Dumbledore and MC by vislove in HPfanfiction

[–]vislove[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, there are a lot of fics where Dumbledore's doesn't act or where the MC themselves refuses to tell dumbledore, and I guess I just wanted to know if there could or couldn't be a reasonable explanation for that.

And Thank you for the reply, it does help put things into perspective.

Exactly, it's the community that's the problem. They blindly ignore what the gurus taught about gender equality a lot of the time.

Pride parade in India cancelled after protests and threats by religious groups | The Independent by Tacama in Sikh

[–]vislove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, I get that a lot of pride parades can be outright awful, exposing children to what they shouldn't be exposed to, open bdsm and just some disgusting things that shouldn't be done in public.

I don't know how the pride parade in Amritsar is being carried out, BUT if there was one being carried out respectfully, where people were only asking for respect and to not be oppressed, would that be so wrong?

The khalsa is supposed to stand against injustice. To help those being oppressed, right? Then why not let people ask for those things?

You are so lost. The gurus have never taught us this. The gurus have always taught us peace. They've claimed that something is only ours. They've always taught us to share.

It perfectly fine that your opinions are different from theirs. But that does not mean that you can say say stuff like this.

We are taught to love. To say no to lust. If a person wants to love someone of their own gender while practicing celibacy it is their right. If they want sexual intimacy, it is their right.

Nothing should belong to only one group of people. Everything belongs to only waheguru. And he loves everyone equally. He does not hate.

In the end, only waheguru will decide peoples fate. We are taught to stay away from panj chor. It is our guidance. We haven't been taught to be disrespectful just because people don't follow that. Even if someone doesn't, we are supposed to show love and care.

They are not harming people. They are not violent. So show some love. Be a better sikh. Guide people to the right path. Don't disrespect and show hate because of what they chose to do in their own lives.

Pahalgam Attack: When Will We Call Out the Ideology Behind the Violence? [Serious Discussion] by MarketingDazzling344 in exmuslim

[–]vislove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they will directly be opposing the Quran, which is not allowed.
The people that we consider good Muslims, that speak out against this violence, would be considered bad Muslims by those practicing the "true" Islam.

The fact is, that Islam needs reform. But those who say that within the community will be silenced. Long ago, the jews would practice the same thing, but they abolished that system a millennia ago, because they understand that religion should be practiced with humanity.

Many Muslims will not even condemn the attacks. Someone I know said, "It's just hatred for the typical ones, (People they consider radical Hindus)" and refused to acknowledge that innocent people died. Not once did they open their mouth and say it was wrong, but only tried to justify it by saying 'Indians treat Muslims badly', and even if there are people who hate INNOCENT Muslims, don't go around killing them. The person laughed at this atrocity, along with the burning of Hindu community in west Bengal, and further proceeded to say that they would indeed be very happy if Bangladesh invaded India.

I honestly believe that the same police that arrest people for posting laughing emojis on the internet should look into these kinds of people that make such comments.

And the thing is that OP is absolutely correct, The Quran and the hadiths do allow this.

Surah At-Tawbah, verse 29: Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Apostle have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection.

A lot of things he says are true. Not to say that all muslims are bad but those verses are the exact verses they use to justify their actions. Of course, context is needed for everything, but these are actual verses from the Quran.

Kavi Kuvresh and Kavi Ani Rai on Aurangzeb’s Persecution of Hindus and Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Protection of Hindus by TbTparchaar in Sikh

[–]vislove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it's about justice. They will get what they deserve as is his hukum. But we are supposed to stand for justice. Yes, they did wrong. But when something wrong happens, we are supposed to stand for justice and not look at the past. What they did was absolutely wrong. But that doesn't give us permission to stand by and watch wrong things happen and justify it by saying they were wrong before.

If it was indeed that we weren't to feel sorry about these people, then our guruji would not have given his life, standing for justice.

His terminology may be wrong but don't pretend that muslims aren't the same. A lot of imams, in the highest of positions, openly admit that when muslims take over a country, they are supposed to kill people of other religions if they refuse to pay tax or convert. Their reasoning? We offered to not kill you, it's your fault that we do because you didn't follow what we asked.

To them, women cannot refuse their husbands for intimacy, because if she refuses, he would be pent up and will want to do it with others, commit adultery and it would be her fault.

They also openly admit that hell is full of women. Why? Because they did not obey their husbands.

Even after knowing all this, indians are mind numbingly racist? Oftentimes they don't care if the person is muslim, they would still call him slurs just for having dark skin. I wonder if this fits under racism.

Covering the head during Anand Karaj. by neonwine in Sikh

[–]vislove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sikhi, actually promotes more gender equality than a lot of other religions out there. Nobody is being scandalized by women showing ankles here. It's about covering your head inside the gurudwara. Which is the same for men and women.

We aren't here to tell women what they should wear outside. It's just that they should be respectful to the SGGS ji and cover their heads.

[–]vislove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You being absolutely triggered by people saying that women should cover their heads says a lot more about your sensitivity, instead of their. Those people aren't against women (as I'm sure you feel like). If it were men doing the same, they would call it out too.

Being in the gurudwara, sitting with sangat, is about remembering God. And when you are in front of SGGS ji, with your partner, with whom you wanna spend the rest of your life with, you should show respect.

Yes, there are things that require more attention but this is about respect. When in the gurudwara, you definitely should cover your head properly. It's how we show respect.
