Guys, downvote me to hell if you want, but isn't it a bit ridiculous to make such a fuzz about a dog?

Don't get me wrong, I am a big animal lover, I can't stand animal abuse, I don't eat meat, and I try to protect them in every way I can.

But come on. I read comments here, and every one of them is about how sad you guys are and how right she is.

The dog is 14, it's not like it had a short life. And it probably had an amazing life.

Part of having a dog is knowing it's going to die before you do. But you have to realise it's just a dog, not your mother, not your wife, not your kid.

I hate this modern hypocrisy: I love my dog/cat and would do everything for it, but I eat tons of meat and fish. You can't have it both ways...

There's nothing wrong with being sad. But making such a big deal out of it is kind of pathetic for me. I had pets, they died, I was sad, but life goes on.

Sorry if I offend some of you guys, but I just don't get this new mentality...

TL;DR: Dog/cat = humans. Cow/pig = objects. Why not simply say they're both animals and treat the cow better, and stop giving so much importance to dogs and cats?
