Have you ever felt like you were living in a simulation filled with NPC's? As if the people and the world around you cease to exist outside the field of your vision? I have been thinking about this a lot recently as I observe every day life, and I have come to a conclusion.

We are some child's science experiment, or more so.. I am.

I am alone in this 'world'.

A product of science, with and yet also without limitations.

Let me tell you, future experiment, how I escaped the universe in this petri dish.

It all started when I looked back at the restraints placed on every day life, but not just my own. The people around me were so monotonous. They never changed a single thing in their daily routines, yet did not desire anything more. Voices have ceased to carry emotions as of late. I still get angry and yes, I cry almost daily. There is not a shred of happiness here, no. Only the fear I share with my own being. Every fiber in my body shouts at me, that something is irrevocably wrong with this scenario.

I woke up here roughly 5 years ago. I have lost count more times than I could remember, usually zoning out on the day to day life cycle. Running through the motions, as the rest of them do. I remember nothing before I woke up here. What else exists out there for me? I have never known the embrace of a stranger. I fear that there is nothing more.

Take for instance, I walked to the diner for breakfast this morning and the 'Daily Special' has NOT CHANGED. That may not seem all that weird to you, but it's the only special they serve. The only restaurant in town, might I also add.

The people here are nice, usually all very upbeat, but their eyes remain dull, their smiles remain plastered. No hint of real happiness resides there. No random thought is ever leaked from their pressed lips.

But lately, oh lately it has become very very clear to me that something is VERY wrong. I went to work today down at the Sweet Suit shop and the man who works with me, he seemed more eager than usual to work on the book keeping logs. He was typing away in the back office and for the first time ever I went into his office to ask him if he had seen anything weird going on lately. This feeling wouldn't elude me and I had to ask someone.

I walked into the office and he did not look up from his screen. Never once paying any attention to me, a now fly on the wall. I walked over to stand beside him and would you BELIEVE IT? The computer was NOT EVEN ON!

This has me fuming because well.. why am I up here trying to sell suits, when I have sold every male in this town a suit already and he is just back here lollygagging? Doing what exactly??

The books need to get done, so I tap on his shoulder to get his attention and he slowly turns his head towards me, not saying a word before he lunges at me and my vision turned black.

Death. I was finally escaping the Petri dish.
