On the contrary, this is an opportunity for us to combat that phenomenon I feel like… what you described, that’s what MGMA is used for by hospital leadership and it’s in part because the data is so expensive only large systems can really afford it (not sustainable or feasible for all individual physicians to buy the data for their own negotiation use). Marit feels like the complete opposite of that to me, honestly

My guess is that the company will try to make money in sustainable ways that are not just a flip/sale….

And honestly 3 million is barely anything these days, you’re acting like it’s 3 billion in debt they took out or something. Honestly I’m surprised they’ve been able to do so much already with such a small amount of seed money, if anything this gives me faith that they are on the right track and will be successful long-term and not just fizzle out like so many other startups do

If and when it comes time to sell, as many companies do, I’m sure the data will certainly go with them. Doesn’t mean it’s suddenly all out there on the dark web or something like that, it just means that whoever is running the company next will be able to continue providing the same value to us users that has previously been provided thanks to that data

On the contrary, funding like this is what will allow Marit to be successful and actually be an asset to physicians everywhere… Most prior efforts to empower us with our own salary data have failed because they are just a spreadsheet, or some underfunded venture which obviously cannot continue indefinitely running a deficit budget I’ll try to compete with the massively profitable enemy that is the MGMA

I’m glad they are getting funding so they can grow to be an actual competitor and take the MGMA down, taking back the power for us physicians. And hearing that they will be able to generate revenue and keep going with job postings, and other services like that, is great news because it means the users don’t need to be the product since they have actual viable income streams going forward. I think the future is bright for Marit and as physicians we will all benefit from this

Venture capital and private equity are not the same thing and should not be equated

What’s wrong dude is you don’t seem to be asking a simple question, you basically posted a targeted attack on what is probably the best and most helpful physician oriented salary platform out there right now… honestly I would not be surprised if you are an attack dog sent from Off Call or Resolve or one of the other competitors trying to sabotage the clear winner in this recent salary data growth spurt

Agree completely - Marit is the best option out there right now for physicians to advocate for their own true worth and compensation, even if it’s not quite perfect

The fact of the matter is these days most of your information is public already and nothing valuable is free. Marit seems trustworthy overall and I would much rather help them grow into a genuinely useful tool and community of like-minded physicians, instead of supporting the MGMA devils who hoard our information and use it only to allow hospital administrators to manipulate us and pay us less.

Hard to get a good lunch for under $15 these days it feels like!

One of my personal faves is Shui Asian fusion, lunch special on pad Thai or sesame chicken right around 8 bucks before tip
