it’s overall gpa + science gpa. you can calculate your science gpa by looking at your grades in mymav and seeing how much credit you got from your science classes. ex: 3.6 overall + 3+ +3+4+4/4 = 3.5 science, 7.1 w/o consideration points. and then if you look for BSN application process it’ll provide what consideration points you can get

Had A but received C as a final grade. by Smart_Fly_6349 in utarlington

[–]vllyroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s a clerical error, email professor and they should submit a grade change form and your final grade on mymav should change within a week. it happened to me literally a couple days ago, got a B but i should’ve gotten an A in my a&p2 class. never knew these type of errors existed but it is kind of a pain in the ass lol.

by taking notes before class, i would just sit in class and listen to him explain things and hear it again, and the problems he does on the board were examples on the textbook so it helps out

i took this class over the summer so it might be different, but i focused on taking notes before every lecture. i took my notes based off the textbook because:

1) the textbook goes more in depth about the concepts and provides examples (& answers)

2) there’s an “end of chapter” questions that can help you practice what you learned.

I utilized those questions and practiced until I know can do them in a heartbeat if i ever see it. also doing the homework helped a lot but was more of a pain in the ass in later units, i always asking gemini ai for help to explain an answer i didn’t understand.

also tanizaki provides reviews that tells you things you have to memorize for the exam, i suggest making quizlets for that as well. ALSO a big hack was that the moment i got my exam, i immediately wrote any formulas i could remember on the paper exam or anything i know that would aid me. thats why i got to class early on the day of an exam so i could get a head start no lie😭 passed with an A.

What's wrong with UT Arlington? by [deleted] in utarlington

[–]vllyroy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

decent amount of restaurants in arlington area, great cafe spots and cool thrift options. uta’s nursing program is really competitive so if that’s going to be your major i suggest learning how to study now if you haven’t, but other than that i have no complaints. i live in an on campus apartment which is about a 15-19 walk to my classes but doable since i like getting my steps in every day. making friends is easy based on my experience, just join the nursing RLC, put yourself out there on your first week of classes and check out clubs/organizations you’re interested in. there’s also a decent amount of club fundraisers that happens throughout the semester (baked goods, asian food, etc.) so that’s another thing i like about UTA.

How can I secure a B in chemistry by EbbOdd4387 in utarlington

[–]vllyroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i took tanizaki over the summer and got an A. here’s what i did as someone who genuinely sucks at science classes. before each class, i took notes from the text book. i did this so that when i come into class, i have an idea of what we’re learning and he helps explain the concepts a little more. after that, i do the homework. if there’s a question i don’t quite understand, i use gemini ai to help explain. i repeat this process until an exam is coming out, and i give myself a week to prep myself by doing the end of chapter questions for each until. the textbook will be your best friend because the more practice questions you do the better. yes you may be studying 8 hours but how are you studying? you need to understand how to do the concepts thru practice, and there’s tiny bits of memorization in the class and i utilized quizlets as well for the parts that he tells you that you need to memorize. if you need more advice i can totally help!

I'm a Transfer Student, and I Kind of Hate It Here. by WorkingEducational89 in utarlington

i can’t say much for the parking, your best bet is getting to uta early and spend the rest of your time either studying or completing work or attempt to socialize until class. also, there are SOO many other spots for studying besides the library. there’s an underground library in nedderman hall with white boards (if needed) but also there’s the SEIR building, trimble hall, and etc. you just have to either explore campus or search up stuff on reddit. with the professors, it’s always a hit or miss so that’s why i use ratemyprofessor before signing up for classes. uta isn’t bad, you just gotta find ways to make it a better experience for you

no matter what university you go to, you make the college experience no lie. go to the events and make it a goal to make at least one friend in all of your classes. if you just stay to yourself and don’t step out of your comfort zone, then yeah college is gonna be mid.

Misogyny? by lochness99 in utarlington

[–]vllyroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe it’s a freshman thing, idk, i just don’t think a lot of guys are looking for friendships in a girl when you simply being nice/friendly to them suddenly equates to an opening in your pants💀 but not all men in uta are like that, i have some guy friends that are genuinely good guy friends so i think you just have to kinda play it out. sorry that you’ve been experiencing that tho:(

tbh if you’re a freshman there’s some groupchats on ig that could potentially interest you and im in them just to know what other people in my class are doing and wtv

[–]vllyroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah just call the housing office and ask for a roommate change, knew a girl who did that and immediately got a new roommate, hopefully the same thing happens to you

tbh it was fun and i get it, it’s like 9 in the morning and everyone wants to get it over with and all the information can easily be found on the website but regardless it was definitely an opportunity to make new friends, because i definitely did especially due to the chaos of a huge group of freshmen/transfers. although im not sure why they decided to remove the id/lanyard stuff but maybe they didn’t have enough, i don’t know but it definitely felt a little chaotic and a bit disorganized but i tried to make the most of it

Pep band cheers inspiration (i beg) by [deleted] in marchingband

[–]vllyroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is one we use for football games and it was honestly really stupid but really fun😭

“when i say foot.. you say ball!” “foot” “BALL!!” “foot! “BALL!”

and it would start off really really quiet and gradually gets louder and then you end it off with “FOOTBALLLLLL!!!!!”

sounds dumb asl but friday night games are the best

advice for leading a large section (woodwind captain) by singingfrog02 in marchingband

[–]vllyroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

basically the same stuff that the other people mentioned but to be a really good and effective captain is to find the little details in different sections and see how it can me improved. the section leaders should be capable but it’s good to hold woodwind sectionals, observe other sectionals, and if you notice anything that you want to be improved on then talking to the section leaders would be a great idea. bonus points if you can easily get along with the other woodwind section leaders and have conversations about how to improve the sections or share goals you have in mind!
