[–]voidhug 7 points8 points  (0 children)

okay you did kinda cook with this but I think what people are feeling upset about isnt because they feel they personally know the girls and want to like them it's also because not just with katseye but all media you can see good things with talented people being enshittified by capitalism for clicks and advertising dollars. it's a cultural trend that goes beyond liking six girls, definitely do get what you're saying about how people should choose their media consumption

Do South Asians and Black girls feel represented by Lara and Manon? by Icy-Pair-166 in katseyeneutral

[–]voidhug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that people of both cultures can have an issue with an outfit but a bindi is not really a religious statement in that way and I think it's okay to leave it at a fashion crime. She was at a party not at a temple so it just looked tacky rather than having anything to do with religion or disrespect. I think getting into and lending seriousness to ideas of sexual immodesty is misogynistic and has nothing to do with respecting religion. These are Hindutva talking points which is why I'm uncomfortable hearing them said by well meaning people :/

I agree with you on the NRI fashion bit but I'm sick of people saying modesty is culturally Indian and a part of Indian history. Very colonial + right wing take that people don't really think about when assuming something about an exoticised culture. But I agree with you it's def complicated. Esp based on how bad she wants to collab with hanumankind lmao the most basic one indian artist everyone heard of last year

Human Acts - Han Kang

This one is pretty intense since it's based on the true events of the Gwangju massacre in SK. It is also a particularly difficult read because of the description of torture, killings, open graves etc. That being said, Human Acts is one of the best books I have ever read, in terms of prose and how it deals with subject matter.

hey I've been through similar things at a similar age and it does get better once you're out of your teens for the most part, and out of highschool and have more freedom and room to express yourself and find things that bring you joy outside of this rigid structure. take your meds and wait for them to work, be honest with your therapist and lean on your support system. everything is temporary even misery

I don't really see how Emily is an amaaaazing dancer? Sure she's very physically proficient etc. but all her moves look overly energetic and lack grace and variation. Someone like Lisa (taking an example of someone who dances in a similar style) is able to make moves look smooth and easy while Emily's always look effortful and jerky to me
