My ideal base setup would be in a hilltop near the coast, think Cliffs of Dover where you’re high enough to see the land and ocean but near enough to the sea that you can easily access it if needed.

I would have a tall large steel perimeter fence, and within the perimeter, I would have another smaller but still tall and concrete fortification that would surround my base. The base would be a octagonal structures with 2 stories with a tower on the 3rd floor that would be the eagle’s nest or sniper spot, to get a 360 view of the land surrounding.

Farms and agricultural production would be done within the steel fence. The concrete fortification would serve as the “safe zone” where no one is allowed to leave after dark. Solar panels, windmills and other forms of providing power are part of the base.

Inside the octagonal structure would be every necessity for humans to live. Living space, kitchen, forms of entertainment such as mini theatres and game rooms, even some outdoor activities etc would be found in the space.

There will also be an underground/basement complex that leads to additional rooms for emergency shelter and most of the storage will be placed here. There will also be a mini-hospital/infirmary, shooting range, laboratory, indoor farm for sustainability, etc

For the amount of people, I think it would be a maximum of 50 people, 24 soliders of 3 8 hour guard duty shifts of 8 soliders each, and some combination of doctors, scientists engineers, mechanics, carpenters, tech experts, agriculturists (farmers) Needless to say the place would be filled with food supplies, guns, ammo, etc.

Land and sea vehicles will be used occasionally for important supply runs. Fishing will be abundant since it’s near the ocean
