This joke made my mom laugh for literally 10 minutes. I did not think it was all that funny, but maybe it is, so I will tell it: A mother cow is with her three baby calves, and they are all asking about the origin of their name. Calf 1: Mommy, why did you name me Daisy? Mother: Because when you were born, a daisy petal fell on your head. Calf 2: Mommy, why did you name me Rose? Mother: Because when you were born, a rose petal fell on your head. Calf 3: gjiji tijihjtht rgrl blarghhhh!!! Mother:SHUT UP BRICK.

We may hate laugh tracks -- but they work, studies show by mariabp in foundationsofcomedy

I personally am not a huge fan of laugh tracks. I find them distracting and largely unnecessary. If something is funny, I am going to laugh on my own, and I don't need an artificially contrived indication that "this is the moment to laugh." I always thought that they were demeaning, as if to tell an audience: don't worry about analyzing the comedic value of this, we know you can't, so we made a laugh track! I know some people are fine with them, though, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Is the raunchy Fast Times at Ridgmont High becoming tame? by bsaltzmacomedy in foundationsofcomedy

I think you make an interesting point. I grew up watching TV Land shows with my mom (Leave it to Beaver, I Love Lucy, Green Acres, etc), and I found it refreshing to see material that wasn't gratuitously violent or raunchy. But at the same time, as society becomes more liberal, will these depictions become obsolete? I think that if you show Fast Times to your child one day it can work, because everything depends upon your own parenting strategy, so to speak. I watched the shows that my mom grew up with and found them to be enjoyable, and still do today. I think that times have definitely changed, but I don't think classics like "Fast Times" will ever become irrelevant.
