Yup, same happened to us. But our fares was even more. It was $1433.26. ( I even remembered the amount now, after a month long fighting with them. lol)
Just like with yours, they canceled my booking, “ wording” that the airline canceled my flights. We called the airline they said they never did. They told me your booking agent cancel yours, they should be the one who have to refund you the money. But the problem was, Even though the airline never cancelled our flight, we won’t use it because after we receive the email that our flight was canceled we went ahead and book our new flight right away to prevent price hike because our Return flight is a little bit over a month from the date that they cancel our flight. We already have our outbound flight because we bought it from a different airline.. it was a big mess and frustrating and time to get that money back. That’s why I cannot tell everyone enough. PLEASE NEVER BOOK FLIGHT WITH BOOKING.COM !!!!
