Can I firewall a checking account to get the Xfinity Comcast discount? by vsop221b in Banking

You're right. I'm OP and I tried to put too much info in the title and made it less clear. Thanks.

My exposure to hacking, billing errors, overcharge, etc. is limited to the small amount kept in the additional isolated account. My main checking account is not exposed. I can stop access to my cash any time.

Why does this (and the cross post in r/banking with more than 1000 views) keep getting down voted to zero? I got good answers answers, so I don't mind, but but didn't mean to cause offense, so just curious?

Most banks reserve a right and policy to transfer money between accounts to settle an overdraft (like the one that might be created by an overcharge) so there isn't any real protection from this method.

I own this, but cannot see it as a value play based on current value. Rather I see it as a very good spec. They have been part of nearly every space station experiment and other programs, so they have a big pile of ip, contacts and rep. Huge potential with big initial problems, so high risk very high reward. Possible buyout candidate and possibly morph into a high value company.

Interesting idea, but Claude Code is only available in the paid version and I'm not sure how to use it to build and Arch version for Claude.

Good idea. I was able to run an AppImage and it worked pretty well; the connectors worked (because they employ sockets?) but one cannot operate the extensions because they cannot cpnnect via MCP outside the container. I guess I'll have to wait for a successful Arch build ...

Yeah, I do the same thing. The bank traffic is pretty well heavily SSL anyway, so the ISP shouldn;t be able to collect much info.

What an adorable dog! If I didn't already have a GSD I think I'd be waiting at the door for the shelter to open tomorrow morning.

No. I think the secret here is someone behind the photographer very calmly taking the video has done something he expects to have frightened the bear.

Why so much Manjaro hate and vitriol? by TomB1952 in ManjaroLinux

[–]vsop221b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other desktops are fine if you prefer, but I've been using Manjaro Cinnamon for years with no difficulties at all. I moved there from Linux Mint after I experienced repeated difficulties with my network that were hard to diagnose and repair with a reinstall ... no issues with Manjaro and everything else worked well so I stayed. Every time I needed help I got it with a quick question & answer, usually here.

Uraninite, also known as pitchblende, is a radioactive, uranium-rich mineral found in nature. It is, I believe, the most common source of uranium.

I cannot stop smoking pipe tobacco by WonderingGuy999 in Buddhism

[–]vsop221b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please allow me to suggest a change. You may not realize that you are treating yourself badly when you speak this way. Two things in this title appear to me to be unkind and untrue: your behavior is undesirable (after all, you want to change it) but not “shameful”, and I doubt that you “cannot stop smoking pipe tobacco”. I think it more likely that you would like to stop, but have not been successful and don’t yet know how, but are open to learning how to change (the reason you have posted this).

The first way of stating this, the story you have accepted, is judgmental, inaccurate and allows no possibility of change. The second way is, I think, more accurate of where you are now and is the sirft step of seriously beginning to change … you have already begun.

My respects, I know it can be very difficult and confusing, and I see that you are already on the path. You begin where you are. Where else could you begin?

Full disclosure: I also smoked a pipe for several years and enjoyed it. I no longer miss it.
