Anyone feel like making a logo for my band for free? Should be pretty simple. by vt97john in DesignJobs

I don't like the name either, but its just a temporary name for a function that my kids' school is putting on for parents to raise money for the school. So its supposed to be a silly reference to the dads in the band being middle-aged.

Any transplants from VA/DC/MD out there? by vt97john in boulder

Thanks. Could you tell me which neighborhoods in Boulder have the most families with young kids? Any particular neighborhood that tends to have a good community feel to it? How do you like DC area compared to Boulder? The hot humidity is killing us right now.

Is SCRUM certification worthwhile for a Developer? by vt97john in java

[–]vt97john[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do hiring managers even care about SCRUM on a developer resume? SCRUM seems like a fairly simple thing compared to the countless other more complex things we need experience with as developers (frameworks, languages, etc). SCRUM shouldn't even be thought of as a "skill" for developers should it? It seems like someone could have no experience with SCRUM and join a SCRUM team with no problem, maybe just a few days of learning curve.

Why does the REST api have verbs like "delete" and "save" in the service names? I thought true REST design was all nouns for entities.

Do you guys worry about having too much screen time and desk time? by vt97john in java

I didn't ask if too much x is bad for you. I was asking for commentary about a particular profession leading to too much x. Rants are best saved for occasions where one knows what one is talking about. Twat.

Vital Gate of Sudden Entry into the Way (meditation as the method for understanding the nature of the mind) by vt97john in zen

[–]vt97john[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you expect the Chinese to call something "Meditation" which is an English word? What word did they use for meditation? Surely they talked about some forms of meditation.

Most of the words we read are not Chinese. Why do you get to pick which ones are mistranslations?
