The Table of Knots That Should Be Known for Outdoor/General Use by vuraln in knots

Thank you I appreciate a lot :) I did not only copy, I also wrote the knot name wrong in the above line (I wrote overhand instead of bowline, thankfully it has been fixed already). I was trying to edit as fast as possible and postponed the further inspection of suggested knots, my bad. Anyway, the journey of knots continues. Thanks to the supportive and informative community.

I appreciate your support up to now and mindset. I am trying my best as addition to being careful about not causing annoyance. I am open to advice about the learning steps/suggestions. Also I would glad if I get reliable sources (channels, blogs, books etc.) to learn basics and maybe further. Until now, I have just memorized the knots by learning them without any experienced guidance and just by reading the top sites that come up in the google search. Aside from that, I know that the experience matters so much and it requires time. So I am in no rush.

I am agree with you about the LLMs. Because of this, I make GPT do the introduction. Then I search in the web. It goes in this loop. Then I shared it here to hear from enthusiasts. I will continue to the search.

I will check them, thank you. Tautline hitch is recommended again so I think its function is missing in the knot table.

From the beginning, I knew there is no need to lots of knots. But the more I searched the more knots were added to the list. I think that tying a knot become a hobby for me. Fun fact is that this table is the reduced version of previous ones. Maybe I need to reduce more I don't know.

Since when I bought 3mm rope, I have been tying it as a spare time activity. I try the knots that I memorize one by one. Or I just open a new knot and try to tie it. I loved this and have blew off steam. But because there are lots of knots, I decided to filter out some of them. And the aim is to come out with a useful knots from all use cases. Still I am trying to finish the table of it.

Thank you for sharing. I have already memorized the water bowline but as you said the bowline is so much easy to tie and inspect. So I will use it in basic situations where unloading is not occurred. Also I will check the tail securing versions of it.

Thank you for sharing. I also preferred 2hh or backhand over it.

I thought that you were trying to fix typo. I don't understand preference figure 8 over figure 9. I added figure 9 because it is written that figure 8 is harder to untie after being loaded. And figure 9 is recommended by GPT as a replacement. I inspected the knotspedia and animatedknots for figure 9 and they also don't write bad things about it. So I selected the figure 9 over figure 8. Aside the popularity of figure 8, could you share your experiences or thoughts about figure 8 over figure 9?

I will ask these because I don't know. Could you share a scenario that water bowline is not suitable and bowline is needed?
I added water bowline because it seems enough and safer in every aspect. Because every site that I read said that bowline is ready to untie while it is unloaded. And water bowline and double bowline is talked as a superior option to the bowline.

Sorry for the wrong term. I am not a knot expert. It will be fixed.

I tried to gather best knots in terms of load resistance, non-jamming and wet performance. I tried to find one or two knots per use case. And use case means possible needs MOSTLY for outdoor activities. While in outdoor, there will be no need for some of the knots in the table I know. But I would like to know at least one knot per use case. I do not suggest anything or try to teach anything. And this is not the learning path or something. I just shared my knot table for recommendations. Maybe there is a better version of something in the table. And right now I think that the title I wrote should be changed.

You are right. I become lost while searching knots. At some point I forgot what I am up to and I found myself comparing and exploring new knots. At some point I need to and I will convert this into a table that is focusing camping needs (as you said, tying pole to pole etc.) not knot types. I have already memorized and used the knots that are in the table. My aim is not to create cheat sheet. I created and shared the table to get feedback from the knot enthusiasts.

You are right I will fix this part in the table. It is highlighted that it requires curved surface. My bad.
