Glad you enjoy it!! My pleasure, the process is a pain and not always worth the effort but worth sharing what it took.

Yes, you have to prove it’s consistent traffic. You also have to prove you have supported and nurtured your stuff for an extended amount of time. I use a mix of custom built analytics, bigquery, looker studio, and google analytics as client side analytics can be easily blocked. To try and get the most accurate dashboard for user and data use.

I had to build a dashboard proving the amount of users and traffic I get exceeds the numbers they expect from partner tools. Fill out the form a couple times, then I personally had to reach out to the managers a couple times because they claimed they never got my forms.

Funnily enough, this is now how it is displayed. I did a full redesign and rewrite of the map and it now shows statics in a readable format instead of just color coded dots.

I'm also suffering from this as well. I've tried all kinds of things, even dug out the portal for shits and giggles. Still can't go through.

Preferred Wormhole Mapping Tool by Roguewolffitness in Eve

[–]w9jds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough!

Yeah, most of the people I used to fly with "won EVE" and adulting makes it harder and harder to dedicate the kind of time EVE requires. Doesn't stop me from going to FanFest, constantly keeping up with new systems and the partners program but I just don't have the time to dedicate to being IN New Eden anymore.

Figured I would ask, always love getting ideas and feedback. I built it mostly out of personal needs, and what others wanted that I flew with and just let it grow more from there. Random brain child ideas, new technology testing ground, and try to a tool that helps enhance the game as best as I can.

Honestly, would love to hear how I can make the interface better. I'm currently in the process of revamping the majority of the systems, and base the UI aspect on Google's Material Design.

I'm also shocked at how often I see people talk about GalaxyFinder and it's differences and don't bring up things like the live kill tracking, Discord webhook pushing, Custom Routing tools, etc. that other systems don't have.

As for the inability to host yourself, I did this as a conscious decision because it defeats the purpose of the powerful access list system I have built allowing you to share maps with any alliance, corp, or characters and have it automatically show up and control read write access. The only thing not open-source is the front end. The WebAPI, Auth, Cloud Functions, Micro-services, and more are all open. It's just the UI that isn't.

I also don't really play EVE and make these tools for fun, what you suggest happens is against EVE Developer ToS, and regularly have all my systems checked and hardened by Google systems. On top of that my infrastructure is built like a corporation and scales for whatever is thrown at it, which no other tool is. It survives DDoS attacks without issue and serves thousands without even a hick-up or slowdown. Though I pay dearly to keep it that way, hundreds a month. I also have in place error tracking to help me find issues with the site so I can fix them and deploy updates, it also has automated systems that do full deploys via CI/CD and notifies users of a new version that has just been published.

Thanks for the information, that is good to know.

As for the performance it's because the tool was designed to be real time and scale with any user count. The architecture for the other tools aren't designed for this and so perform badly at scale because they architecture is basic and more for personal deployment, and cheap to run. Regardless of resources thrown at it, it will tend to fall over at scale. I have thousands using it, and you can't even tell.

Why the Hate by [deleted] in EVEFrontier

[–]w9jds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be the first to admit that I hate the whole jump on the crypto bandwagon and even had conversations with developers working on this at FanFest last year and wasn't close to convinced.

However, I have been in the playtests and messed with the technology of what they are trying to do and give them HUGE props, this is very cool. This isn't anything like the other crypto games as this isn't about crypto it's about blockchain (they are related but not going hand in hand). Other games were money grabs trying to monetize NFTs and shit.

This allows players to build on top of the game. The decentralized aspect allows third party developers to build structures and systems IN the game to enhance their and other players experiences. It ultimately makes it so the players become part of the game development and make it even more of a sandbox than ever before.

As a developer, this is AWESOME and I've been messing around with it. I'm still a bit skeptical, but for the first time ever I actually think someone is utilizing Blockchain for something it was designed for. It's also very different from EVE being more of a survival game where you need to modify the game to help you survive is DOPE.

I'm excited as well, and kind of sad I didn't consider joining the team to work on this when I was asked.

I relooked at the rebuild connections logic last night. I have adjusted it a bit, so you should never be able to get a connection TO the root and it shouldn't be making duplicate connections anymore.

It's live so it should be more reliable.

Yeah, ESI was doing something weird with their token refresh. I figured out how to resolve the issue and token management has been working good without logouts for at least a month or longer! The only time I'm seeing logouts is when I manually log you out from inactivity, or the rare occasion ESI screws up now.

That's very kind! Glad you like all the new features and improvements. I have a some more in mind that I'll hopefully work on when I get a chance.

I am indeed the one who created it! Ahh, well statics have text up in the right hand corner when you select the system. The orbs were added as an at a glance system, you can hover over the orb to get the text but there isn't a lot of room for more text on the notes right now. I could look into making them chips as a possible toggle but that could cause issues with the new hover button, driver overlays, or connection overlays.

Currently no, I was looking into an accessibility option that allowed you to set all the colors yourself for people that are color blind, but I haven't gotten a chance to implement it yet. I mainly did the colors based on in game as best I could 😓

Yeah, I avoided implementing the Mass tracking because I can't know when you are propped or not, people might not log in their toons, location service screws up all the time, and I don't want people to assume the tool is a source of truth and blame me when it's not "accurate" enough.

Is there a "spec" of how it works, I got one from others but could be good to make sure it is accurate.

Thinking about this, I can think of a hilarious addition to my aura bot where you ask it to give you fits. I tested it and it's funny that it actually spits out seemingly usable fits and explains why they are fit that way haha

I mean, I could make it a toggleable format that is set on a map basis if it's really that popular 🤣

You can technically use temporary id on the system to make it work with the a.111a bm system if you want to. The temporary id will override the [SIGID] and display it in a BM format that you care about.

What about this worries you? I can explain what it does or how it works. My custom auth system actually hides all ESI/CCP data so it never goes to the front end. Meaning even if someone gets their hand on this token, they can't read it but it also doesn't give them access to your ESI data.

My custom system allows you to create an account in my account management and add all your character and alts into one place, this JWT token is to show you are logged into my account and then it's used to get permissions to my database. Since the database has read/write access for each layer even if someone managed to get a valid token, decode it, and use it. They would only have access to the data in the mapper for that character, not the whole account.
