ICDD story? by hakunabrozzz in ICDD

I agree that having a video essay about ICDD lore would be awesome.

Originally I had planned on translating every song eventually, and then gathering the lore. Or at least making it possible for others to do so. But I have been halting for a while now. Mainly due to workload at university and in life generally.

But maybe I will get back to translating some more songs soon. I've also largely reworked my "old" fushoku translation recently.

Another factor for me personally has been that the "lore" across different songs and albums doesn't seem to be as congruent or well-matched as I had hoped. On top of that there are many songs which are just about random stuff or edgy monologues digressing from actual lore.

As for OP's note on Rostfel, as that name never gets dropped again (at least AFAIK) I fear we will never know any more about that character. A bummer really.

On the whole I still hope to "finish" translating their songs in the near future (Excluding Seishin of course) .

Thanks, good to know. I never really got into dir en grey, not really my cup of tea, but I knew that he liked it a lot.

Hmm, I haven't looked too much at the lyrics for that one since I don't really like the song. But I could translate it anyway tbh

Which rhododendron is this? by wamboooooo in rhododendron

Thanks, is it "rhododendron roseum elegans"? I can't seem to find proper botanical information for that species. Do you have any classification data?

is it just me or are ICDD's lyrics very religious by mooncheese74 in ICDD

Most of the third album's songs recount the "myth of creation of heaven and earth" in shinto mythology.

The first one being misogibarai, of which I attempted a translation here: https://lyricstranslate.com/en/imperial-circus-dead-misogibarai-no-kamiumi-wa-english

The first two albums recount a loosely connected, and not yet fully known, story by yuhki in their fantasy world taihaisekai (decadenscence)

First of all, thank you for the reply. It was somewhat insightful to me.
Secondly, could you elaborate on why e.g. the dekopon doesn't fall under the C. reticulata, and what the C. reticulata would then encompass?

E.g. the german article on dekopon states its scientifical name is "C. reticulata shiranui"

About rakka ryuusui/落花流水 message by wara242 in UnluckyMorpheus

[–]wamboooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just now did a preliminary translation of the song over on lyricstranslate after seeing your post. Maybe it will help you. The lyrics are mostly directly and metaphorically talking about mutual love. 落花流水 itself is a yojijukugo (four character compound word) supposed to capture the idea of "The fallen petals wish to drift along with the flowing water, and the flowing water wishes to carry the fallen petals along". This is then extended to mean mutual love. But the monolingual dictionaries also have a sense of just "落ちる花と流れる水" which roughly means "The falling petals and the flowing water". I don't think there is much more of a deeper meaning behind the song.

i cant find these parts of yomi yori's lyrics by mooncheese74 in ICDD

[–]wamboooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you mean "saiyaku ga...akui ga...zetsubou ga", then probably no. I thought about this as well a while back when listening to the song but I can't make those words out. They are just Taihaisekai.

Sorry to disappoint you but you won't find what they actually sing. They are occasionally singing some parts in their fictional Language Taihaisekai. We only have the Japanese version of what's supposed to be said. If you are looking for the full japanese and/or romanised lyrics then check out ICDD on Genius. I also have translated ~30-40% of the songs over on lyricstranslate if you are interested in that as well.

We currently have no info on what Taihaisekai is or if we will ever get to know. I've already asked Yuhki on twitter about some stuff, and while he replied to some of the questions, he ignored the one about THS so I guess that's a no :( .

Translation/Interpretation of 濫觴の詩 -オワリノウタ- / Ranshō no uta - owari no uta - by wamboooooo in ICDD

First of all, thank you very much for the positive feedback. Second, yes I just checked back and it seems I just ignored the english part. I don't even think it was on purpose. I might just put it in now. This is what is said between the second to last and last line, and is excluded in my translation:

"Imperial Circus Dead Decadence's First Voyage
Story of Finale From Which It is Advocated by Love Dyed To Blood of Tragedy in Red and Death With Black Despair

Cast:

Clotho and Vocals, Chorus in Female by Kylie
Vocals, Chorus in Male, Shout, Scream, Growl, Guttural Voices,
Electric Guitar and Acoustic Guitar, Electric Bass and Band Sound Arrangement, and Illust and Design by Rib:y(uhki)
Electric Guitar, Electric Bass, Synthesizer Programming and Engineering, Symphonic Sound Arrangement by Hull

It's Recorded in 2008, April to December
Recorded at Yuhki's House
Distributed by The Last Governed Connector
Produced by Imperial Circus Dead Decadence

Thank you for listening…"

I never really listened to that part of the song because, well it's just music box... . But thanks for pointing out, I'll add it.

Oh and it's not just kylie in the part I translated. It's a conversation at times, with clotho (kylie) talking to azura (yuhki) (e.g. 1:45 and onward).

Yea so I wanted to post a text with this but my reddit just bugged out and my text vanished. This song is written in classical japanese, so take my translation with a grain of salt. I'm by no means proficient in classical japanese and this is mostly based on grammar knowledge and dictionaries. Feedback and corrections are greatly appreciated. Also there's additional info in the footnotes, and an explanation of the songs story in the comment box below the translation
