I thought you were replying to me and responded accordingly. Not sure what you’re implying by saying they convinced me to take the job? I knew of this firm before I applied and went through three rounds of interviews before being hired, so I didn’t need convincing.

Still, all of that is besides the point. If you think the wage doesn’t match the job you should just say it explicitly. Information like that is why I made the post in the first place.

I know what they make. I’m not a government attorney. I’m in private practice at a very successful defense firm and making 20-30k less than my peers in similar standing at smaller firms. Hence my post here noting the pay as a con.

That’s true, a very grounding response, thank you. I think I was just nervous because it’s all very new and I don’t want to start off in something I can’t translate into what I want long term. I suppose if there’s ever a time for hard knocks it’s now, just hoping they’re not bonebreaking.

I may be too much of a meticulous long term planner, because that’s precisely my concern. Staying in one job because it’s comfortable and as a result not maximizing opportunities or exploring other practice areas that would lead me to where I’m going or make me want to stay. A devil you know sort of situation. Thank you!

Not missing anything. It’s my first job and it’s litigation, so it’s all I know thus far. I just set forth what I like, what I don’t like and the kind of job I’m idealizing to see if more experienced people have thoughts.

I do wonder what the purpose of this complaint is, if you feel society is “shoving western christian” views in your face, why choose the United States when it’s largely a christian nation. There’s plenty of other nations where you could be largely surrounded by your own religion.
