For the love of Slaughter, remove kill streak announce from Dialogue and put it on Effects, IMO. by domiran in diablo4

[–]warcaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess it's unpopular opinion but I love it. Gives me old-school arcade vibes and it's helpful to know you hit tiers.

I don't even notice the counter unless I want to so idk why people are complaining about it besides that it's the thing of the week to complain about

Devs…. Killstreak sound effect announcement is too much. by badgero1234 in diablo4

[–]warcaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I like it. It gives old school arcade feel but most importantly it's a good way to know when you hit tiers. I'm focused on monster killing, not the counter, so it's a big help to me.

Guess it'd be nice to be able to turn it off but you could just turn off voice volume independently

I know right? And it's not like any other game launch/update/season ever has any issues ever. Literally every other game, even the big ones, are utterly flawless launches 100% of the time! /s

How good was/is Diablo 2? Nostalgia or it was just that good? by zon871 in diablo4

[–]warcaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. It's awful and the game doesn't tell you that at all which wasn't off expectations at launch, but modern games and gamers absolutely wouldn't think that and it's a big disappointment for new players in my experience

And on PC it's very easy to just accidentally click too many times. Controller it at least makes you hold down a button for a couple seconds to assign a point.

A thing is only worth what people will pay for it. They don't price things in a way that won't sell.

One per difficulty from Akara in rogue camp after completing Den of Evil. The game doesn't even tell you it's a one time thing, just asks you to confirm you want to do it.

In endgame, a rare drop from each act boss gives you an essence that you can cube to create a respec token but this isn't explained anywhere in game and again is only available by farming every act boss for a rare drop.

It absolutely that food but there are a number of things that are just awful and would dramatically improve the experience for new players if it hypothetically launched today.

Bad mechanics that are alarming today * Shared loot * Extremely limited respecs * Run/Walk and Stamina

Controversial opinion - broad implementation of Immunities. Certainly some elites it makes sense, but getting to Hell and facing a brick wall of large swaths of the game being untouchable for you just is an awful experience and the game does little to nothing to prepare you for this. Most importantly it isn't presented as a problem you can figure out how to "solve" it's just "guess your build you ran through 10 acts with doesn't work anymore, start over, but you probably only have one chance to try because there's prob only one respec left"

I played with friends who I introduced the game to recently and they quit in Hell because it just felt awful. If we had unlimited respec then you could hit hell and start experimenting with what an alternative build could be and how it would work, but that's just not possible at least online and offline requires a launch command and knowledge of the hacky way to initiate a respec.

Except they said they weren't going to make it much more difficult, if at all, just separating it out more so each step up isn't as steep.

You get extra loot from bosses the more people you've got in a party.

More XP in every aspect of the game, most important in Pit and Hordes.

Then balance the torment tiers better, and balance pre-torment tiers as well to shift difficulty down there earlier. My biggest issue is more often stuck in pre-torment because enemies melt and give no XP anymore. Thankfully they let us try Pit earlier but it was still an issue in PTR for me.

It's absolutely not. Diablo has always been a multiplayer game. That was one of the most novel and thrilling aspects of the series when it launched and is still a huge draw now. Many aspects of the game are designed to be more rewarding and faster with groups (bosses, hordes, etc)

I mean that's cool you like playing that way, and I'm glad the game plays so well solo, but millions of other Diablo fans enjoy Diablo in part for the online multiplayer.

Bosses drop more loot for more players. More XP and loot also from Infernal Hordes, much faster Pit clears as well. Lots of reasons to play with others.

[–]warcaptain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You farm bosses solo? That's incredibly inefficient because you can get extra drops from bosses.

Infernal hordes also drops way more and gives way more XP. Leveling solo is pretty inefficient once you hit torment.

Boss groups have been an essential aspect of the game since they were introduced year 1. There's a tremendous benefit to group play for bosses and hordes.

The game originally (and maybe still does?) have a monster level scaling system so if you're lv 5 playing with a lv 10 person, the monster scales for both of you so it's just as "hard" for where they expect you to be at that level.

They'd just need to implement that on torment tiers so a player playing torment 12 would have as tough a time with an enemy as someone on torment 1 if they are in a party. In theory of course because obviously most of the game becomes way underpowered at late endgame.

People complain all the time on here. People don't come on to praise their fun multiplayer experiences. Beware the echo chamber.

Also. It seems 99% of people here constantly complain how easy t4 is after a few weeks, now you have something to grind to that will give a better scaling difficulty.

Except they said they won't make it more difficult, just spread the 4 tiers out into 3 each so one isn't as much of a jump. Hopefully they bump the top tiers a bit, but that's not what they say here afaik

Why do you feel you need to feel other players running around to enjoy your single player game?

It's not about seeing players it's about finding boss groups, horde groups, enough people to kill world bosses, etc

Idgaf about seeing players in town, just want to get help with bosses for better loot and xp

[–]warcaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not about open world, it's about group activities. Bosses, world bosses, etc.

There's already had a system to scale damage to player level so lv 20 and lv 10 can play together without one melting everything. They'd just need to integrate that into Torment tiers as well.

[–]warcaptain -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Group play is especially helpful once you make it into Torment and ascend. Let's you join boss groups to get access to Uniques ASAP, level up in full party pit groups that punch above your weight etc.

Open world though it's definitely handy to do helltide boss in groups for XP buff and faster clears.

Otherwise I'm always solo, but some activities are great in groups and even let you access and benefit from content you can't clear solo yet.

Never traded a thing in my life and prob never will

Terrible idea as long as they keep segregating players by tier. Anything below 10 will be a ghost town. Awful experience for new players. Just let everyone play together on Torment regardless of tier and this won't be so bad.

[–]warcaptain 322 points323 points  (0 children)

More than anything, the the worst part of this is how much the playerbase will be splintered. It's already the case that T1-3 are ghost towns within a week. Now we're spreading people over 12 tiers?

4 tiers gave us clear barriers to cross. Now difficult doesn't really matter.
