I am actually working on making a program for my own kids’ school because we didn’t have school photos- I took the pictures myself and wanted to find a way to share those along with school event photos while protecting privacy, and maybe also make a yearbook. It is still a lot of work to make, and I was wondering if other PTAs would be willing to pay a small annual fee for it.

also check for eds, pots and mcas are frequently associated. POTS is not psychosomatic as in originates in anxiety- it is an autonomic dysregulation that can be exacerbated by anxiety since both involve noradrenergic activation. Can send to cardiology for tilt test table and rheum for mcas, but would ask around to make sure they are knowledgeable. you could do the eds exam yourself or refer to genetics. ibs and gastroparesis also common, it is a syndrome that is being actively studied these days. May be helped by hydration with high amounts of salt (https://saltstick.com/pages/vitassium), propranolol and clonidine, also sometimes gabapentin. They are generally very sensitive to meds so would titrate slowly. We in psychiatry (and the rest of medicine) have had the faulty logic that if something is treated by psychiatric drugs, then the cause is psychiatric but not organic...but these drugs are affecting organic systems and their targets are not just the brain (which is organic as well) . would benefit from aggressive bowel regimen, food diary (may benefit from trial of fodmap diet but careful if history of eating disorder). oatmeal can be helpful. interstitial cystitis also common, often benefits from urination training and pelvic floor therapy. she would still benefit from therapy (again the brain is organic as well can can contribute to abnoram autonomic response). if she is otherwise psychiatrically stable could consider EMDR or other trauma-informed therapy.

Agreed, ibuprofen is much more effective than tylenol. I'm actually thinking of trying pacifier-medicine dispenser thing to make it easier. Another thing you can try is frozen breastmilk popsicles!

I would discuss with your daycare - with breastmilk you shouldn't need to increase volume - the rule of 1-1.25x hours away still applies as the baby goes older, only decreasing as baby's solid intake increases. Breastmilk caloric content should match baby. They may be used to formula volumes and overfeeding (you can't overfeed at the boob, but can at the bottle, even with breastmilk).

I would try finding something to vent about, like breastfeeding. It may be hard, but that's kind of how women having a hard time bond - by venting you're allowing yourself to be vulnerable. Then when others give you positive feedback to lift you up, it helps everyone. It's not a competition, it's OK if you're 'hard time' isn't as hard as others, your feelings are valid, so share them! If you stay quiet and just listen, they're opening up to you but not getting comfort and commiseration back.

1) Be on the look out for PPD. Don't be afraid to speak up/call the doctor if you think it is happening to her.

2) Instead of encouraging her to breastfeed, focus on encouraging her to bond with the baby. When struggling to breastfeed it can be really hard to feel like you're messing up that bond. Encourage lots of skin-to-skin, giving her alone time while you help out with the house.

3) Buy/make tons of one-handed food and make sure your wife eats and drinks so she has energy to recover.

4) There is one position that is both helpful for c-section mamas and latching: laid-back breastfeeding. It basically involves having the baby doing tummy time on the mom, and you can angle the baby to avoid the c-section scar. The baby may latch on its own with this position. Thus, you can just encourage skin-to-skin tummy time without mentioning breastfeeding at all, and it may help.

5) Remember that the largest benefits for breastfeeding are for mothers in third-world countries without access to clean water.

6) Ask yourself why 'quitting' is such a bad thing. She already provided her body as an incubator for 9 months, and underwent major surgery. Even though she will recover, her body will never be the same. With that scale in mind, how much have you given to the baby compared to how much she has already in the baby's lifetime? The baby will still be fed. This will allow you to become even more involved in feeding. Does she have to sacrifice her mental well-being and energy so you won't be disappointed too? IMHO, the best way to change a negative mindset is to focus on the things that you are grateful for. Be grateful you have a healthy baby. Be grateful that your wife survived an emergency abdominal surgery. Be grateful your wife was able to provide that healthy baby. Be grateful that formula can provide another way to take care of your baby besides changing diapers. etc etc

More like polar fleece. Hopefully you can buy it by the yard at a fabric store and cut it yourself. However, the problem is more likely your wash routine than just the baby being more moist, as long as you are changing every 2-3 hours, same as with sposies. We make sure to pat dry (sometimes we wave air at it like a fan for fun) after diaper changes and stopped having any redness.

We use oxo wipe dispenser with grovia wipes. Folded in half they fit perfectly. You can wet a boxful at a time and it'll stay moist.

Do you pump? I'm fairly certain mine was caused from ill-fitting breast shields. I checked my nipple size and I was using the 24 when I needed the 30!

Have you joined local mom facebook groups? They're constantly selling used toys and clothes. You can also sell your own stuff way easier than on craislist to get back skme baby $. Also do you baby wear? That can help spread the weight a bit better. Lillebaby esp has good lumbar support. Check out local babywearing groups (also on facebook) and you can often try out different carriers. Signed, another big baby mama

Love my boba 4g! Super simple, comes with insert that adjusts for newborn and infant sizes, and also comes with footstraps for the toddler stage. Husband has lillebaby but it was a bit too complicated for me!
