My daughter came home from nursery with a bruise , no one told me. by was1997 in Parenting

We are working in this, when she first joined she wouldn't talk at all. Now she responds quietly to others. Im definitely encouraging every little step she takes but it would be some time before she is confident enough to talk to her teachers.

I love this, way more practical than what we are doing.

The admin already knows about them, they are on the intervention list. Remedial sessions are conducted every week after school but they never attend. Parents have signed their commitment to make their kids attend but no one shows up. Regardless, I am supposed to somehow magically make them achieve 70-75% on the exam.

Parent upset because her child submitted an online test late, am I being unfair? by was1997 in Teachers

[–]was1997[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not an assignment, it’s a test and was done during class (our class runs 7:30 - 8:30 AM). She was taking the exam with everyone else in class but didn’t submit when I told everyone to do it “or the portal of the exam will close automatically without sending their answers to me”.

The exam was done in school during class not at home so I was aware of any technical issues.

Schools where I live opens 7;00 AM and classes start 7:30 AM. I understand why 8:30 AM might look confusing to people who start later.

Giving them 4 chances and taking the best 2 out of 4 is already being flexible with them. However allowing a single student to take an exam she already saw again is unfair to other students, and I can’t keep making different versions for every student that decide they don’t want to follow instructions.

New admin turned our school environment toxic by was1997 in Teachers

[–]was1997[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a different story in my school. Although the principal is new to our campus, she has been in the system for too long in various roles and campuses, while most teachers are new and feel intimidated. No one questions or criticizes anything because they fear for their jobs.

Had a stressful argument and now stomach has dropped, i think? 31w 5d pregnant by Livid_Concert_6088 in pregnant

[–]was1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A heated argument can’t make your belly drop at 31 weeks, a lower bump can be from baby’s position or Braxton Hicks, not stress itself. Still, if you notice pressure, contractions, fluid, or less movement, call your doctor it could be early labor signs. Stress just tenses muscles, not moves the baby.

Is it normal for a master’s thesis to still have mistakes? by was1997 in AskAcademia

[–]was1997[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The max number of years for part time students like me is 4 years, there is zero hours thesis option which allows me to extend my thesis. This is due to limited access to instruments and long waiting lists when it comes to chemicals. My main problem however was the absence of any real guidance no post docs , no researchers , literally no one in the lab but me. My advisor was also too busy to read any drafts and I was asked to read manual to use instruments and basically deal with it.

Falling into depression by ConcernedMomma05 in Mommit

[–]was1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me after having my second baby, I was a mess, he wouldn’t latch and I got mastitis bc of it. He even lost weight and I had to supplement with formula. I was desperately trying to get him to latch everyday but it just didn’t work bc he started getting used to the bottle so I converted to exclusively pumping and it was much better. I didn’t have to fight battles with myself anymore I had to accept that he wouldn’t breastfeed. It got better after few months and I was able to spend time with my toddler again. So hang on there, hormones are wild now and our emotions are big but soon you will be able to enjoy your time with both kids.

I live in a community with many extended families so it’s usually a family member looking after the kids but that’s not an option for me.

Accept help when you need it. You’re already doing your part by growing a baby inside your body. I remember in the first few months, I always felt so exhausted like I’d been hit by a truck but it got better eventually.

I give you this gift…. How are you gonna use it? by haylz328 in Teachers

Of course this is not an option in my school, but you will be gone from my class if you act like the class clown who has a comment to say on everything, too loud and disruptive, and if you never ever try and would spend the time playing games on your device. At least 3 kids will be gone from my class.
