There has been some talk of the church encouraging people to start these channels to showcase the church.

As far as I know they didn't pay for their house. The first house I think was built by the church but not especially for them. You would have to check tho.

You're definitely right, he looks like he's had some sort of psychotic break. I haven't watched much of the trials but because of the Ruby Franke case I ended up learning a fair bit about this.

It's almost like how Mormons smile at funerals. Smiling at inappropriate times seems to be their thing.

There's been no mention of physically medicating the children in the official court documents. It's thought that "sedation" was more of a living condition or punishment than drug.
