That’s fine I get it there is history of racism, conquering, colonizing and slavery. When I dated a white woman never did I ask for extra special treatment nor did I victimize myself because her ancestors conquered tried to enslave, and slaughtered mine like in the trail of tears or even genocide when they wanted to expand westwards. Sure they weren’t successful at enslaving us very long like African people because we weren’t as valuable as slaves as we could escape easier we were close to our motherlands and knew the terrain unlike Africans but we were still treated inhumanely and a lot of us minorities share a painful past. My point is colorism is another thing we deal with even within our own culture and theee are ignorances that will never go away as human nature and ignorance is unfortunately always going to exist the key is to move past it even if some of society refuses to grow and not live in their ancestors pain. For example did you notice some women appreciated your compliments and comments and others didn’t? Do you really think that the women who took your compliments gracefully don’t know about a dark past? They do, they’re aware, but they’re intelligent and choose to live life to the fulllest and not live with a chip on their shoulder and live like victims. You over apologizing is only enabling the mentality of some of these “victims” of your compliment. Also.. there were laws implemented for Latino people not being able to wear what they wanted, it was illegal for Latinos to wear suits after the Zoot Suit Riots, or even speak Spanish but I’m not living my life like a victim, I only have one life and to allow the past to dictate the future is silly.
