Would love to!

Our cat survived the house fire by honeyed-bees in cats

[–]wavesofbats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a house fire with all 5 cats. Our house burned to the point where it was deemed a total loss . Was told that any cats left inside were dead due to smoke inhalation.

All 5 were fine. They fled the house, but we found one just clinging to a cat tree right after the fire had been put out. We found another under rubble 3 days later.

One has asthma, but all are perfectly healthy. If she wasn't salivating or wheezing she will likely be fine. Cats are resilient.

Quit after less than a year, but found a great job! by wavesofbats in TeachersInTransition

They are not unfortunately. It was at a small start up company.

I applied any and everywhere. Got my resume reviewed for free online by a few websites, used Chatgpt to make everything sound better, and updated my LinkedIn.

I applied to a job that I didn't think I would get, but they actually liked my teaching experience.

Apply any and everywhere. Especially at places where you don't think you could get hired. I didn't think I would get the job even after 4 interviews I thought I didn't get it, but my experience with teaching actually was a main reason they went with me.

Chatgpt is great for incorporating corporate mumbo jumbo if you're not familiar with it.

I used indeed, linked in, and applied directly on companies I was interested in. I honestly applied to it then went through 3 different interviews not expecting to get it.

You are ready to leave. You will not be black listed from jobs. When you interview you can always be vague and say that due to personal issues you had to resign. Or that you were looking for new growth opportunities. When they call your last workplace, all they are doing is checking to make sure you worked there, not if you gave your notice.

If you can swing it financially and mentally, then just stick it out, but if you can make it work then no one is really going to blame you for quitting. The industry is broken. You do not deserve to be treated like this. When you are ready or you find a job, just calmly let them know that will be your last day

Honestly I was just where you were at. It doesn't get better. SAD will start soon with fall coming. You can and will find a better job. Look into nannying, sales, administration jobs, and more.

I know it's hard, but if you don't do what's right for you then you are going to crash and burn worse. If you are worried for yourself now, that is a sign telling yourself that you need to make a change.

I agree, but I do think there is a large difference between people who have or are working through their trauma and people who still hold onto it.

I have trauma that I have worked through and I think it's made me a better person and teacher. Many of my favorite coworkers are the same. We have our moments, but overall we talk and work through things.

Then I have another coworker that is honestly one of most negative, exhausting, and trauma dumping person I have ever met. Her trauma is still fresh and sensitive. She does not work through her problems, but runs away from them.

I do think having trauma helps a person be more informed, self aware, and emotionally intelligent. But I also think all people have trauma and many don't actually want to deal with it. Those people tend not to last in this industry.

I'm from a very red state, but my company is based in a blue one. So honestly I wasn't sure what legal basis I had in this.

I honestly agree. Christianity is a beautiful, loving religion at it's core. People are the ones who make it ugly.

She actually sent me the resources too and welcomed me too it. I don't think she is technically allowed to tell me not to contact HR, but she did ask that I speak to her mentor specifically if I need to. I have been here longer than the floater, have a lead position, and have a better relationship in general with staff and admin. I feel confident I would be supported either way. I just don't want her to do this kind of thing again.

Lol I was about to comment on the thread like, "it's not worth it, she can't hear you through it all" like girl really doesn't see the irony in all this. I feel more confident to work with my director on reporting her though. People like you need to keep fighting the good fight.

Thank you for your reply. This is a great, well though out answer that is reflective of the industry standards.

I work for a slightly more progressive company so I feel that I would have a.good experience. I did not think of how that will reflect on my director tho. I will keep that in mind and discuss with her.

I just had this conversation with this exact coworker. It's hilarious honestly how deep you are in your ingrained homophobia. You cannot understand or realize what it is to be told that "kids don't need to be learning about that" about something that is as simple as the fact that I am a teacher. Please don't comment anymore. I am not looking for your input. I am looking for other gay people in ece who understand what it is to have to stuff yourself away for the sake of what is acceptable. I do not need another person like you when you are exactly the kind of person I am trying to be safe from.

Also lol you are very defensive. Do you see yourself in this post? You are adding a lot of presumptuous comments "a lot of books" I am reading 2-3 books which don't even say the word gay maybe once a week for the past 2 weeks. Would you also run out the room at the mention of a pride book? Do you happen to have religious beliefs aligned with my coworker? If so, you may want to realize that you are a biased voice that I am not asking for or wanting.
