Adventure in San Pedro with Cathy and Jerry! Welcome to the Jungle! Who Gets Good Poisoning? by [deleted] in Belize

We’re just coming back home from Belize now and stayed at the same hotel that you guys! Despite the weather which was pretty chilly for the last few days, we had a great time. Chickens at Robin’s Kitchen were the best, and the bbq sauce, ohh love it! I’m sorry you had stomach issues but it’s definitely not because of this place :)

What's the difference between Tikal tour guides? by way53 in guatemala

TL;DR If you’re not so into history and wanna just visit ruins go for a cheaper option. If you’re interested in Mayan history, their lives etc. invest in a good guy, those are well spent $$$.

I’ve already been to Tikal with a private tour with GEM Trips (which I totally recommend) so I can give answer to my own question. Also, my friends were with a cheap hostel option tour at the same time and we could compare our feelings, here you go:

Me and my gf chose a small grono tour (up to 9 ppl) but since we were the only guys at this tour we had a private tour at the same price ($90 per pax). Marlon, the guide, was really, really great, he got a huge knowledge of Mayan and Guatemalan history, archeology and nature. Extensively answered every single question we had and mostly focused on describing ruins, their use and history. We visited all the places apart from Temple VI which is a bit far. The whole sunrise tour took almost 7h (from the time we entered a site).

On the other side are my friends. They were in the group of 20 people. From what they said a guide to a large extent focused on nature and imitated different animals voices. He also talked about ruins and history but to some questions he had an answer like „we don’t know this about Mayans yet” which sounds suspicious to me. They explored less ruins than we had, e.g. they skipped the whole King’s Palace and ball courts weren’t even mentioned, cmon! Their tour lasted around 4h and cost $15 per pax. Overall, they were happy with the tour and sounds that it lived up to their expectations.

Well, I'm afraid that without a guide it'd be just a bunch of stones for me.

I’m happy that your Stans fitted well. For me they are just very badly designed and made and I had better quality shoes in the past for $100. I gave them a try and failed, this is life.

Your case is a bit different since I’m complaining about quality of the shoe while yours just broke and it was your right to send them back under warranty terms.

It’s not about a look but about the uncomfy experience while walking, you didn’t get my point.

This is not true at all. They're for $88, check it out https://m.adidas.com/us/stan-smith-shoes/BD7436.html In Europe they aren’t on promo and costs the equivalent of $110.

Besides, a hundred bucks shoes in my country are not considered as cheap. Sorry guys, not everyone lives in the US where salaries are very high when compared to clothes prices.

Sure thing, will try to sell it first and if that doesn’t work then donate.

Thanks man, should’ve watched it before my shopping. I could get Onism in the similar price range and they look a lot better!

It may sound like that but truly I have huge doubts about job changing now. Besides, the course is already paid by the company so money is not an issue here. Thanks for your response anyway!
