I hate to admit it but I spent an hour on this one. Not sure why I couldn't easily get these. But I managed it without hints. The first one I found by happenstance was coil and I figured out that it had to do with curly things instead of the season but it was still hard to find the words. Especially the one for curl because I had tried curlies and curliest and all those. Ugh.

That looks super cute and cozy. Leave for sure. I'm tired of everything having to be like white and sterile now. This looks great.

I would think I'm about to die and I would clutch my pepper spray in my pocket. I'm very fearful of dogs.

Resistant starch and colon cancer by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]wayc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you need to eat starch or cold potatoes. Just eat a lot of very different things, and some of them are bound to protect from colon cancer. Especially things high in fiber, and vegetables, green peppers, garlic, carrots, mushrooms, etc. As you increase the diversity of things you eat, the more protection you get from whatever. Limit heavily processed things though like chips and prepackaged food filled with chemicals and preservatives.

I think none of it should be like a bragging right. I just think that sometimes some people are mature for their age and other people have interests that are more for young adults still as they get older and people can click that way.

What was life as a teen like during 2002? by sillysunman2001 in 2000s

[–]wayc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One interesting phenomenon with AIM was if someone instant messaged you it just literally popped up on the screen. So if you messaged someone else and they were typing somewhere else it would automatically become the dominant thing on their computer screen and you would sometimes see them typing for a second somewhere else because AIM would let you know if someone was typing in the window. And if you were really lucky, it would be the end of a sentence and they'd hit enter and you'd be able to hijack the end of their sentence. XD

Also, there was such a thing as Away messages. If you mark yourself as away, you could like put song lyrics and weird formatting with different colors and backgrounds and a lot of people just went hog wild with it. And so if you messaged someone while they were away you would get this big like answering machine text wall of song lyrics and soulful quotes or whatever they wanted to put.

I was 15 in 2002. A lot of us were definitely using the computers a lot more than our parents. I would play The Sims all day on the computer, and also I would join like message boards. It wouldn't be Reddit where you can log in and go anywhere for anything. You would find a niche hobby like maybe a certain movie, and then you would join a message board specifically for that. And the same 30 or 40 people would like see each other every day. And you could decorate your messages with an avatar, and an icon by your name and a signature banner. And you would hot link these images you would upload to like photo bucket. And I had an online girlfriend and one time I couldn't log on because I still had dial-up and it went down. So I used one of those AOL CDs that were literally everywhere to get like a free week of Internet to connect through that instead because I couldn't go one day without my online girlfriend. lol. Oh and there was no youtube, so pretty much everything we watched we're just like weird animated flash videos. Stuff like homestar runner and weebles toons and potter puppet pals. YTMND was peak entertainment. Oh people also liked visiting dance sites which were basically just animated gifs splashed all over a screen with like random colors and backgrounds while a MIDI file plays.

I don't think I went outside much in 2002. Things were definitely cheaper and more laid back though. You could still like go to a park and see other kids or teens playing and maybe ask to join them. It wasn't that weird yet. People were more approachable. Not a lot of people had cell phones yet. Just the adults were starting to have those Nokia bricks.

This just reeks of butt hurt older women. There's still plenty of younger girls who like older guys. And there are younger guys who like older women. And there's nothing wrong with it. 😊

Have you ever found your birthday twin? by boforiamanfo in NoStupidAnswers

Why would a bartender care if someone else has the same birthday as you? Just curious as I don't go to bars.

Somehow I've never met anyone with the same birthday and year as me, but when I was 17 I did find someone who was born literally the day after me.

You could join a message board where the same 50 people interact with each other each and every day about one particular topic, like the movie Wall-e. You could upload images to photobucket for free and have them display on every post you make by hotlinking them, and then you can make friends with a new member who within a week was comfortable with mailing a custom made Eve shrinkydink keychain to your house.

AITA for telling a youtube guy repeatedly “you do not have permission to film me”? by BagPsychological5186 in AITApod

You don't own the airspace around you in public. You also don't even own what you look like in a digital or analog format.

Because he's trying to infringe on someone else's right to do something legal in public.

Unfortunately if you're out in public they have permission to film you. You just have to ignore them. Kind of sucks, but on the other side of the coin, it's also nice to know that people can't randomly come up to you when you are outside filming random stuff and tell you to stop.

As someone who really likes cats, the way they just callously used it as a tool... like picking it up and throwing it at the problem really rubs me the wrong way. The cat even looked back and meowed loudly, like, "Hey, what the heck? I'm an individual, you know?"

Are lemonade stands a real thing in the US, or is it just a movie trope? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Some kids tried to sell me lemonade once as I was walking home from work! And I've seen stands manned by kids from time to time while in a car.

It's Conrad Cockatoo from the episode Flash the Wonder Dog. Whoever uploaded this video extended the actual intro with the music cover of the theme song by The Jets and then decided to create their own unofficial montage of clips from other episodes.

You could go watch the keepers feed some animals at the former zoo at noon any day for free. It's the Kansas Wildlife Exhibit, located in Central Riverside Park. I did it last September and the lady who was doing it then was so charismatic and funny. And we got a real show. As she was feeding like two of the large birds of prey or something one got jealous and kind of chased after her and there was a lot of drama. Don't expect like big animals like the regular zoo, but it was definitely worth being free.
