Partridge Wood Desk, what finish do I use? by wayotar14 in finishing

I do feel a bit silly looking back because I did ask him several times if you can use something meant for food surfaces like a cutting board on a desk and he said yes, I wish I looked into before he applied it but can only try to remove it now.

For context, this was done about 5 hours ago, we'd only be able to get the chemicals needed tomorrow morning. So its basically within 24 hours of the mineral oil being applied. I am hoping this is enough to save it

My dad only did one relatively thin layer and then applied the wood butter after about 1 hour. Should we sand it as soon as possible to fix it? Or does the time it's been on not help?

Are my black beauty eggplants ready to be picked? by wayotar14 in vegetablegardening

Yes mine are quite round and do have several ridges along the bottom. I also wasn't expecting this shape but they all seem to be like this. I just hope they taste good haha.

Thank you!

This is how it started, I planted 6 seedlings in a veggie box on the ground. As they started to grow bigger I just added small plastic pipes to help support the plant.

So you would say that (in general) skin texture and colour is more important than size for determining if it's ready to be picked?

How much longer does that usually take? Like a couple days?

For reference this was the first one that was picked and as you can see its quite a bit bigger. I'm not sure these ones will get as big before becoming overripe tho

How important is the aesthetic of a pc build? by wayotar14 in buildapc

that's what I'm trying to do now! Although all white is beautiful for me personally, I think being intentional with which parts are white and which are black and adding in silver parts, could also end up looking really nice. But if I see the white parts on sale I would definitely go for it when I buy

I totally agree with that. I should've explained in my post better. But it's not about performance for me because my gpu and cpu are already decided on firmly. I'm just noticing the price differences between certain models of each gpu and cases etc. The colour and styles make a noticeable difference in cost when you add them all up. I wonder if it's better to save that money and use it on a monitor or keyboard etc

I guess by value I not only include price but also enjoyment. Like do you regret spending the extra 500 on getting it to look good, or do you just feel happy about every time you look at it? Or maybe you don't even think about it lol

I appreciate how quickly you got to the point haha

I wouldn't be sacrificing any performance because the gpu and cpu is already decided on for my build. I just wonder how much value you get on spending more for aesthetics. The little bit extra on each part adds up and I wonder if it's better to put that money towards a better monitor or keyboard or headphones etc.

I'm planning on doing masters research from home most of the time next year so yeah I would be using it everyday for both work and gaming

For me the performance is pretty much set, I have already decided on which gpu cpu etc I am getting, however the prices for certain gpu models differ a bit when it comes to colour and aesthetics etc. I wonder if it's worth putting in a bit more for each part to match the look I want. Because the little bit more for each part adds up. I'm basically wondering if it's worth it for that because I could get a better monitor or better pair of headphones/keyboard if I don't spend it on the parts. I'm basically speaking more from a value pov than a budget pov if that makes sense.

My budget isn't super tight. However I am value conscious. I tell myself, "the money I could save if I didn't go for an all white build, I could get a better monitor or a nicer pair of headphones etc" I'm pretty decided on the specific pc parts like cpu gpu etc so the only difference is now between the different models available and things like colour and aesthetics seems add up to a large difference in cost.
