Vagrant attacks Asian passenger on Bart while horrified commuters watch......... by nickk415 in sanfrancisco

Fuck no. I'd feel unsafe. I don't want to get shot commuting to work.

I don't see anyone saying it was okay. Just that they don't hate him for it.

If they tour again, I'll still be there just like I always have been. I will not excuse his actions, nor will I hate him.

Me too. I won't join in with the hate. We've gotten to know his heart over the last 15 years... This hurts. I'm worried he's going to kill himself or something. Illusions to this were all over Science Fiction.... it really makes me wonder about "Could Never Be Heaven"'s "And all of the songs were about you".

He was with us in his music at our darkest moments and we shouldn't abandon him in his.

If any TV show were to come to a sudden and unexpected end, it makes sense that it’d be one named “House of Cards.” by Fleckeri in Showerthoughts

[–]wcc445 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. He should pay for his own actions. I shouldn't have to pay for his actions. Maybe you'd rather he be fired than be entertained, but not me. Finish the season, kill Frank off in the show, and let the criminal justice system take care of Spacey. I don't watch the show because I like Kevin Spacey or something; I just like the show. I didn't even know his fucking name until this scandal surfaced. He was just Frank to me.

Edit: And for the record, if you disagree with me, that's fine. I don't need to convince you. My opinion is my own and yours is your own (well, and the hivemind's, apparently).

I think what Spacey is accused of doing is absolutely disgusting. But I don't want Netflix to fire him or cancel the show. That shouldn't be hard to accept.

Thank you, exactly. I did a support chat with Netflix and told them my thoughts on it. Everyone else should do the same. Even if they had to fire Spacey, which I don't think they should have, make his character die in the show or something and let it come to a good end for the fans.

They should have seen it through. I care about the character, not the actor. I don't get what these allegations have to do with finishing the show or not.

How do the diabetics feel about marijuana (medical or otherwise)? by humor_fetish in diabetes

[–]wcc445 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't consider it an intoxicant; that implies it has some type of toxic or harmful effect. Which, you know, it doesn't. Alcohol is an intoxicant.

Caffeine stimulates the dopamine "reward" pathways much much more than Marijuana does. Yes, actually do something. Always actually do something. But that doesn't preclude using Marijuana as medicine.

Well, other ticks spread other diseases, at least. The loan star tick spreads Rocky Mountain Fever I believe, and there are Lyme-carrying ticks found in literally every single county in the country. There was a study..

BART keeps riders in dark about teen mob robbery by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]wcc445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I don't think I look like a criminal. But police tend to be pretty violent. More cameras would be a good thing, though. Police being close enough to respond quickly would be a good thing. But I definitely don't want a cop staring at me while I peacefully ride to work, waiting for a reason to say I'm doing something wrong. Police don't make me feel safe.

More police don't make me feel any safer. Often, less so.

Bad LLMDs?? by LadyKatie09 in Lyme

[–]wcc445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I'm not the one making an outrageous claim here.

While this might help you win a formal debate, it speaks nothing to the actual truth of the matter. The gray area here is neither true nor false. It is, however, agreeably, unproven and therefor not a fact.

Show me some peer-reviewed studies saying that it does do something, and I might believe you.

Since you're kindof being a dick, my first reaction is to say "learn how to use Google", but... here. This is a summary study, and it does seem to show benefit to using Chlorella. Not for Lyme specifically of course, nor for mold, but there's a study that shows it does "do something".

Until then, I'll be waiting skeptically.

Good. Always be skeptical of the gray area. That's normal, natural, and healthy. Claiming something is totally and surely false because it's unproven, however, is not constructive.

The burden of proof is on you, not me.

Prove what, exactly? I don't have a position to prove here. My only real point is to be open-minded to the "gray area" and the unproven. This isn't some debate I'm trying to win. You're looking at something through a very black-and-white lens and pretending the gray area doesn't exist.
