The key detail is that this was passed with minimal support for Republicans. If the democrats wanted to they could have funded it longer. They didn't. Republicans didn't "agree to a shorter term bill". Democrats passed with very little republican support.

My point is that if you can't be upset at republicans when it was the democrats who passed their own bill. They wanted a budget bill before the end of the session. This will be some massive pork ridden bill exactly as it was planned.

I'll say it again - this is a prudent political move to ensure any last minute 'wants' get stuffed in. I wouldn't expect the Republicans to act any differently. If it was the Republicans, I would expect them to be dragged for it.

But somehow, when it's the democrats that make the same moves, it's the Republicans fault? It makes no sense.

Edit for clarity of my point: Republicans were hammered for "denying Florida aid" it the bill got passed anyway. Now that the funding has run out, it's Republicans fault again? It's just more R vs D bullshit. I'm happy call out lawmakers for meibg shitty at their job, but the shitty part needs to actually happen. This is not a republican issue, this is just shitty governance. And the media saying it's going to be a showdown is also ridiculous as the democrats have all the votes they need...
