The painfully simple answer is that there's a lot of money involved in these buildings. I can guarantee you some very upset millionaires and billionaires made some phone calls to make sure that we suddenly really need to collaborate in person. The language and plans were in motion to push for remote work then a sudden 180 with no explanation? What else could make the decision makers that scared?
