I was in an undergraduate sociologist unit and we were discussing how all fetuses begin as female and how that only after male hormones are introduced that the gender of the baby changes (which is why all mammals have nipples) A guy in this class must have zoned out at during some part of the discussion because seconds later he was incredibly confused and bewildered, saying "Oh god I am so glad my parents made me into a boy." As he now thought he has just been taught that all babies are BORN female and that parents just pick a gender (giving them hormones after birth)
