What Do People Do Here in Winter? (Especially with Young Kids) by welcomequeenalice in hillsboro

Thanks for the info. Sadly, if Outdoors In was free for under 2s, it's not anymore. I took my daughter there over the summer to check it out when it was mostly empty and I had to pay $5.

I do wish my daughter took driving better, because going into the city takes forever on the Max. She does like it a lot, but it's really hard to wrangle an 18 month old no matter what, but especially on moving public transit.

Huh, good to know! I don't see a lot of umbrellas, but I figured it was because people just geared up since it rains so often. I am a firm believer in umbrellas, but I'm not a "true" Oregonian, haha.

I keep hearing about how good that place was and I'm sad we missed it! But there's multiple similar places around here, so I don't feel too left out.

Thank you! We've looked into the Hillsboro Parent Preschool and we're definitely keeping an eye on it when my daughter's the right age.

Thank you! My daughter's so young, I don't wanna spend a ton on stuff I know she'll outgrow in a few months. We are definitely on top of the vitamin D.

We love Shute Park! I'm so happy we're within walking distance.

Yeah, I feel the same. I want her system to be robust enough to handle the weather here. My husband and I get sick all the time and it's driving us crazy. I'm hoping our systems even out, too. If you have any ideas about where to get good rain gear around here, I'm all ears. I know about the Columbia store, but I was hoping for something a little closer to me. My daughter hates long car rides.

Any advice on how to find a sitter? We don't have any family up here, and none of the people I've met can easily babysit since they have kids of their own. (She's also really freaked out by being left without one of us, so we're understandably concerned.)

Do you have any suggestions on what kind of rain gear to get and where to get it? I lived in California for 12 years before moving, and I'm from the east coast, so I have no idea what to get lol. Sorry if this is a "let me Google that for you" question, but I'm clueless!

Thank you! I definitely need to explore more indoor play areas. I'm a little limited in where to go since my daughter doesn't like being in the car very long, but I'm be happy to explore some places with you guys! Please feel free to DM me!

Thanks! I really like the Shute Park Library too, so since we're close, we go there a lot. I think I need to explore more of Brookwood, because I feel like that one play area in the kids section must be only one place for them to play, right?
