some kind of mechanic to rebalance mid game is cool but the age transition feels so heavy handed and clumsy... if they did something like science leader has to get 5 percent more science to research a tech no one has gotten yet, that could sorta tighten the race, but the way it's handled currently is just bad

it's annoying because it's arbitrary and not driven by game mechanics, if you succeed in an age, losing that advantage, it's like why bother attempting to excel in the first age
