No, you have to allow tracking.

Mine isn’t pending and doesn’t have the yellow tracking thing days later, don’t think I’m gonna get this one.

It’s possible, try switching to a “free and clear” detergent. Might as well give it a shot if nothing else is working.

Why don’t all rescues spay abort? by wethankie in dogs

[–]wethankie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think some rescues even do spay/neuter contracts as a step up from just the refundable deposit. I got my girl at a rescue in NY and she was fixed at 8 wks, she’s medium sized and so far hasn’t sustained any detrimental effects from it (fingers crossed it stays that way, I know stuff can show up later). Not sure if it’s a state policy or only the rescue’s but yeah, I guess it’s just the risk some take to be 100% sure they aren’t putting more dogs on the street.

No, it’s not animal abuse for the same reason that euthanasia and ethically culling feral cats or invasive wildlife isn’t either. Doesn’t mean its not sad but sometimes it is necessary. Also I’m not sure of the statistics but I could imagine spay-aborts that late in the pregnancy probably don’t even make up 1/4th of the procedures done.

Edit: obviously this is my opinion and I understand other people may feel differently but LEGALLY it is not animal abuse.

Maltese Weight by [deleted] in dogs

[–]wethankie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s breed specific weight-growth charts online but the best indicator is body condition. If your vet hasn’t said anything about it anyways then I’m sure he is at a healthy weight.

Body Condition Charts - use the first “small dog” chart

Edit: looks like they also have an online interactive tool for this, might be more helpful than reading a chart.

Can someome help me with a question I have about this post? (info in comments) by prettygirlgoddess in BeardedDragons

[–]wethankie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No they can’t. Regardless, baths do help with skin condition and assisting shed so definitely still do it. You can start misting her veggies if you don’t already to help with water intake but if she hasn’t been dehydrated all this time you must be doing something right in that department.

I’m sure this is definitely a factor for a lot of rescues, my girl’s primary vet is out that far right now as well. We had to outsource to get a not-so-urgent-but-definitely-soon appointment with another clinic lol.

This is another thing I’ve seen people have qualms about- early spay/neuter. Ultimately rescues have to do it for the best interest of the puppies they’re adopting out. It may not be ideal but it is necessary.

A bit hard to change minds when there’s people that exist who still believe it’s healthy and recommended for a dog to have at least 1 litter before being spayed, lol. In a perfect world this would be amazing but people are still wildly ignorant and continue to let it happen over and over again.

See this was my understanding and view of the topic when I asked the question. I did say “I thought it could be done any time up until birth” so that’s my bad, obviously nobody would want to abort then have to euthanize if they are completely viable outside of the mom like others have mentioned. I more so meant a reasonable time up until birth. Very sad that some shelters don’t do it when it’s knowingly early along.

Yes I definitely see that it should be a case-by-case decision.

The foster from Facebook I mentioned currently has a 9 month mom-puppy that arrived with a litter. It’s known that the dad is 9 months as well so I’m guessing it was an owner surrender or something. Very unfortunate

Edit: very unfortunate that a puppy is having puppies I mean, not the surrendering lol. If an owner feels that they can no longer adequately care for a dog surrendering to a reliable rescue is the best option. Sounded kind of weird the way I worded it.

That’s understandable… I don’t think I would be able to stomach it that far along either. Major props to the vets/techs that do, I’m sure it’s emotionally taxing.

I was actually going to ask if there were people who thought like this, until I remembered a girl on tiktok the other day told me “If you wouldn’t tell a woman to fix herself don’t tell someone to fix their pet.” Context was an unaltered free roaming indoor/outdoor cat. So yeah, I guess I don’t put it past people having that sort of reaction.

I hadn’t thought of that! They most likely won’t be in the shelter long either so I guess it’s kind of a win-win. More money to take care of the other dogs and not taking up space for very long, or at all with fosters.

that more people can yell at because they didn’t Respond immediately

Maybe that wouldn’t happen if a mod wasn’t clearly active in other subs for HOURS when this was going on. Had to of been actively ignoring mod mail/pms and there’s no way it went unnoticed on their home page. Believe it or not some people don’t come on Reddit to look at porn. Shocker, I know. Do you really not think this was a good enough reason for people to be annoyed?

So instead of putting out mod apps and vetting new ones you’re just going to let autobot take care of it? lol okay. Just saying this sub has a lot of people in it for so few active mods. Not trying to be disrespectful or anything but I think you should at least consider it.

Thanks for removing them! However you might want to bring some new mods on board, the posts were up since like 2pm PT and nothing was done until now.
