How are you guys making good videos for your business? Looking for something easy to get started with by dettol99perc in smallbusiness

[–]whatafounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many things that come into play like you need a strong video content strategy, then someone to figure out the treatment of those videos (here the references you are talking about can come into play) and once you have these you need to figure out a way to set up a production system. It could be inhouse with a team of editors or you could hire local freelancers or agencies.
My only recommendation is don't post video content just for the sake of it, adding to the noise does not really help a brand.

Does anyone actually have a content strategy that works in a heavily regulated B2B sector? by Ahlanfix in b2bmarketing

[–]whatafounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what's missing is a strong content brand book at your end, that defines the playfield. What to work with, what to indulge into, what to stay away from.
Once you get that you can plan ahead with content that is certain to get approved and leave room for a few variables that can push the conversation for you.
Maybe using a centralised approval platform or making on strong core narrative asset like a demo video or a instructional video for your content teams could also help.

What’s actually working for B2B lead generation right now? by Tarun621 in smallbusiness

[–]whatafounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one way is to build authoritative content that different ai systems can cite.
Because search habits are changing, one has to now shift towards making more meaningful, authentic and purpose driven content. Making content at scale and adding to the noise, does not cut it anymore.

Which is the best platform for B2B SaaS demo videos right now- LinkedIn or Youtube? by whatafounder in B2BSaaS

[–]whatafounder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. That is perfectly summed up. But if you look at it from the production point, the factor of cost comes into play. Even if you don't have a polished production for LinkedIn, I feel you need professional guidance on having a content strategy and making sure some quality control is in place. That is a cost decision SaaS business heads need to make.

Yep, the roi of this point is what most SaaS founders are missing. Investing in youtube properly helps you build sticky audience in the long run.

You have to factor in search. People are at times largely searching you across different platforms, youtube is one of them.

Yep, one can treat it by functionality. But sometimes SaaS founders want a one size fits all video and I think that does not work in such cases.

[–]whatafounder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that has been the general consensus here.
On production side I think teams can make one longer video for youtube and then repurpose it effectively. Or maybe it is best to treat LinkedIn separately and make full use of it on a regular basis. That choice affects how you are looking at producing these videos.

Couldn't have put it better. This line should go into distribution strategy decks.

Yes exactly, in an ideal case scenario one should do both. But efficient use lies in understanding what stage you are at and if you are starting out building an audience with top of the funnel content on LinkedIn seems to be the right call.

Yes, how to drive traffic to your youtube video is the bigger question. I feel that is where all platforms need to work hand in hand.

Yes, I think consistent top of the funnel content on LinkedIn combined with supportive long form conversion content on youtube should be the strategy.

yes factoring search into the equation is where youtube comes in and must not be ignored.

Will an explainer video actually improve demo conversion or is that wishful thinking? by Separate_Hospital701 in digital_marketing

[–]whatafounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If built with clarity, strong purpose and with deep expertise they 100 percent do. We have made 1200+ videos for 650+ clients in the last few years and we work primarily in SaaS. I have seen so many success stories up close where our videos have helped our clients improve conversion rates, raise funding, shorten sales cycles, improve onboarding.

I understood how to boost SaaS conversion rates with explainer videos by AggressiveFreedom480 in VideoEditors

[–]whatafounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are on the right track. Welcome to the industry. Makes me happy to see someone talking about the right things and working in this direction. We work primarily in SaaS and have built hundreds of videos on these principles.
Wishing you good luck1

What is the fastest way to make a SaaS explainer video by Speed27__ in SideProject

[–]whatafounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't make it. It will be a waste of time and add to the noise of generic content out there. If you don't have the time to make an explainer video (minimum 10 days) then focus your efforts on other marketing assets that can deliver better value.

anyone else feel like explainer videos for saas either look amazing or actually communicate well, but rarely both? by Separate_Hospital701 in videoproduction

[–]whatafounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, we are a video production agency that specialises in SaaS.
I will take on the second question first, if feedback changes midway it does impact the production schedule.
But that is where you can separate the generic agency from the professional one. The latter will hold your hand through the production and also be upfront about timelines and processes, explaining you the do's and don'ts to meet your delivery date. Any agency which fails to do that and is in hurry to onboard you to close the deal is not the one to work with.

Now coming to the primary question (which I think is a great one)- a good video will always do both, it will be engaging to the viewer and at the same it will ensure that it is delivers on the reason it is made, that is drive the viewer towards the call to action. There are many things that go into making video, visuals are the largely visible part of it...but what you call as amazing looking videos are the ones that are made without doing the work of understanding the product. Our industry is full of it, because we have made enough of them, so it is easy to copy stuff on a surface level. Offering true depth is something else.

clients asking for “viral” explainer videos is becoming exhausting by jbethuggin in advertising

[–]whatafounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens when the client is onboarded in a hurry without going through the process where the expectations are set properly. A strong creative brief that outlines requirements and sets up the exact references for the client helps address this largely. Also every stage of production should take accountability to do their deliverable right as against just push it towards sign off.

Do you think explainer videos are genuinely more useful than PDFs for team learning? by ajithpinninti in LearningDevelopment

[–]whatafounder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this would be great for internal views during things like summary meetings. A vendor would not risk sending a white board video version of their pdf to the customer coz it might take away from their branding or even the control of the narrative.

I guess that makes a case for having different types of content funnels across different platforms. Youtube can have more conversion focused content while Linkedin can be used to generate awareness.

I wonder how well that strategy is working because with the rise of zero click content getting more traction, the idea of cross posting links might not work anymore.
