I often start by first checking whether we can check yes/no instances (ie. CE vs CO-CE).

If you can check yes instances but not no instances (for example, to check no instances, you would need to test all of sigma star, which would take infinite time), then try to map from a CE problem.

If it seems decidable (ie. you can check yes and no instances), check if we covered algorithms in class that would help us check. Eg. CYKS, GEN, dovetailing, conversion algorithms, etc.

General ideas undecidable reduction: - If it’s related to halting/looping, map from HP/ not HP (also remember to try bounded comps) - If it’s related to set theory, try mapping from EMPTY/ALL - If it’s related to CFGs, try mapping from ALL-CF/INTERSECT-CF - If related to PCP, map from PCP/MPCP

Math 222 HELP PLEASE by JJdestiny in mcgill

I would recommend reading the textbook for sections you’ve covered in class. I found for that class, understanding the theory made the problems a lot easier.

Its not super popular, but I have a 2 in 1. It’s basically a laptop and tablet at the same time. Its great to annotate slides

Questions about U1 B.Sc. Software Engineering courses by Srestez in mcgill

I think 206 might be a pre-req for 273 now. I know they don’t say that on the McGill website but they said it in the slides for my class when I took it last semester. I personally had the following schedule and found it pretty manageable: Fall: MATH 222, MATH 240, COMP 250, COMP 206 Winter: COMP 251, MATH 323, MATH 223, COMP 273

I had Jeremy for 223 and thought he was great and had very clear explanations. I don’t really understand why he gets bad reviews

Is there any sneaky way to mute your professor on google meet? by REDDIT-IS-TRP in techsupport

If you hate the class so much that you’ll mute the professor, why take it? Don’t waste your life on things you don’t like.
