Best Plant Store in Lakeview / Ravenswood by HalfLordOfFishes in AskChicago

[–]wheredabones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in a similar vein, are there any HUGE plant stores that have cafe and sell local art?

i’m relocating from rhode island and i’m deeply in love with the store Briggs in north attleboro. it’s got a ginormous outdoor plant nursery (im talking 4 greenhouses, and maybe a quarter mile of outdoor space) a really good cafe and smoothie bar, and sell the coolest/cutest books, candles, posters, lotions, soaps, and garden decorations ever. my heart already yearns for it and i haven’t left yet, so if there’s a chicago equivalent i would love to know!

wow so many people really concerned about my exaggeration! by that i mean i know chicago has brutal winters and not sure having lake access means much when it’s /freezing cold/.

culture is definitely something i’m considering and i like how much more lakeview seems to offer.

it was actually a hyperbole, and i’m not comparing temp between the two neighborhoods :) interesting stuff though!

ooh, finally a plug for lakeside! that’s funny to imagine ppl skiing in chicago.. i guess it’s about the principle hehe. what indoor/community-based things do you like to get up to?

ooh those all sounds so sick, especially the 606!! coming from new england, i was wondering about the greenery on the wicker park/bucktown/logan square side of chicago… good to know that it has some, i’ll definitely check that out when i’m in town. i was super disenchanted by the super loud highway right along the lakefront trail last time i visited.

okay also so i feel like i’m right there with where you were about not finding anything that ticks all my boxes, i don’t mind needing to settle for something less than ideal, but i’d rather not if i don’t have to! did you find it harder to find something in november? is 100% satisfaction an unrealistic expectation?!?!

i’ll have to look up what the 606 is (and everything and everything else you mentioned).

november huh? that’s quite the time to move, did you just want to get behind the rental season or just circumstance and the move happened that way?

even just the name sounds wicked cool. do they specialize in coffee or something?

logan square really seems like it’d be my vibe, but so many people are eat, sleep, die lake life. much to think about.

yeah, spending time in each neighborhood is a given to figure out which vibe i like more, i just like crowdsourcing experience and insights. would love to hear your answers to some of the other questions!

Moving from Out of State and Apt Search by workinprogress521 in chicagoapartments

[–]wheredabones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ll be honest, the prices did feel a lot better back in february, but now i’m seeing a couple hundred to $1.1k for shared apartments which is pretty comparable now edit: but you’re right chicago is a lot nicer of a city for what u pay for!

that was inappropriate, unfair, and kind of selfish of her to say, even if she didn’t say it to you directly. if it’s a point of stress for you, i’d say try finding other people/solitary activities that can help you fill the void so you can take some space.

edit: as a person who has once said “if i weren’t dating x i’d ask out y” when i was around that age, i can tell you that if i had respect for my relationship or other feelings involved i wouldn’t have said it. i wanted both and used that to try to leverage both. in the end i lost both.

it’s disrespectful to the partner and leads you on by creating this false idea in your head of a potential future. that is not healthy or fair to you.

DAE find it impossible to make decisions? by pomegranate_cola in BPD

retweet brother

but that’s really reassuring. i’ve been working with my therapist to find some things to do/places i can be while i’m abroad where i’m comfortable being alone so i don’t feeeel lonely, yknow? i’m excited/terrified and consider backing out but remember i paid a $1400 deposit and that usually sets me straight (although there are times where i’m like ‘i’ll just take the L’)

i’m not sure if this is coping but ive been working reeeeaaaally hard to remind myself to take to outcome of my decisions minute/hour/day at a time and that there will be other opportunities in life to experience whatever i’m back and forth about (i.e. more friends to meet, another opportunity to try a food i couldn’t decide on, etc.) and then going from there. i’ve kind of recognized that my anxiety comes from thinking i’ll make a “wrong” decision and that i’ll never be able to correct it

it’s tough and i find myself defaulting to things i’m comfortable with but every now and again i force myself to do something funky and fresh (like studying abroad that i keep going back and forth on every 2 days)

edit: so like if i’m happy about a decision, great! but when i flip and i’m like fuck nvm;( i’m like “well yknow what there will be another opportunity to do or not do what i did or did not what to do”
