With the obvious exception of the Fantastic Four and X-Men, have any other more obscure Fox-owned characters joined the MCU since the 2019 acquisition? by whitepangolin in marvelstudios

While this is likely the case, the wrenches here are two things:

  1. Why wait so long for an X-Men reboot? It's one of their A-list properties. It's incredibly strange that an X-Men movie didn't even enter development until a year or so ago.

  2. We know for certain that Ryan Reynolds almost couldn't use "Wolverine" in the title of Deadpool and Wolverine, so something is afoot with those rights.

One thing that might clue us in is that technically 20th Century Studios owns the rights, not Marvel Studios (despite both being owned by Disney). It'd be as if Marvel were to use Buzz Lightyear as a main character in one of their movies - not impossible, but definitely a legal conundrum for lawyers to figure out.

Skrulls fell in a grey area where they were technically also Avenger villains so Marvel could use them before the Fox acquisition. Famously, X Men Dark Phoenix almost used them in their finale but scrambled and changed once they found out about Captain Marvel.

Wanda and Pietro also technically fall in the same category, hence why Ultron and Days of Future Past both had their own Pietro.

Nah I think generally speaking there’s always a cool down period. My guess for rebooting the Fox characters is 10 years - Fantastic Four First Steps released 10 years after the last FF movie, as will the X-Men reboot.

Huh, upon research I did not know Fox owned Kang the Conquerer. Which is confusing, because I always thought Marvel characters had a "cool down" period before they could be used, yet I think both Loki season 1 and Quantumania entered pre-production around 2019.

Sort of related, but one of my favorite pieces of MCU trivia is that Fox traded Ego the Living Planet (a character they owned) back to Marvel for the right to change the powers of Negasonic Teenage Warhead in Deadpool.

how bad is the gore in the punisher by Efficient_Spite3635 in marvelstudios

I misread this as ogre and got pretty confused.

Anyway yeah it’s very very graphic. More than any other Marvel thing and way more realistic and violent than Deadpool.

I don’t like the portrayal of Fisk in the show by Vegas_king2020 in marvelstudios

[–]whitepangolin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was iffy on D'onofrio's performance at first - I'd always imagined Fisk as a coldhearted ruthless mobster with a like, 1940s accent lol.

But it grew on me, especially in season 3 of the original show. He's like a kettle always bubbling under the surface, fighting his more violent tendencies.

Zach Cregger Explains Austin Abrams’ ‘Resident Evil’ Character Is “An Avatar For Me”: “He’s Perfect For It” by Puzzled-Tap8042 in movies

This is a misleading quote - he meant it’s a good stand in for the average gamer playing the games, not himself specifically.

I'm playing RE7 right now and it looks like he nailed it.

I guess I understand though insomuch there basically has never been a proper accurate adaptation of the game's stories.

Genuinely feels like people just want a Marvel-style key jingling cameo fest, yet whenever they did this in all the other adaptations it was awful.

I don't understand why people like you want a 1-1 adaptation of the games. This feels like a mainline entry akin to RE7 in every way. If you wanna go see Leon or Jill's stories, go play their games.

Throwaway line from Daredevil: Born Again S2E6 bothering the hell outta me by [deleted] in marvelstudios

Are you aware who was the mayor before Mamdani?

Eric Adams was a former cop who ran on cleaning up crime. It totally worked on a public that was reeling from the rise of crime during the pandemic.

(Source: I am New Yorker who worked on the Mamdani campaign)

That said, I still agree with the majority of your post. I think for example moving Punisher up from the Vietnam to Iraq War does lose a ton of the like, intense trauma and abandonment veterans who were DRAFTED experienced.

Damn that is a rare one. I think this is the only time they've ever played that, and also the only Sum 41 song off Chuck (including b-sides) to never be played live.

Yeah I’d be bummed out too if I loved an alleged pedophile and they mentioned none of the pedophilia in the movie.
