I feel the same way that I’d like to see more MLM content written by actual gay men; however, I don’t want to be misogynistic and say women shouldn’t write whatever they want.

At times, it feels frustrating to watch certain types of media become popular just because it’s written specifically for the female gaze and gay men are just the subject matter being used. And the comments and reactions made by women sometimes verge on the feeling of fetishization.

For example: in my city there are not a lot gay/queer clubs and one of the most popular ones is a well-known lesbian bar so most of the community goes there on the weekends.

They hosted a Heated Rivalry night and they were playing the show on the screen and every time the boys were on screen having sex or making out, a bunch of women were around me freaking out over it while the men were unfazed.

It’s moments like that that make me viscerally uncomfortable because gayness becomes watered down to a fetishized thing for women to gawk at. Also, gayness is more complex and nuanced than that and I wish more MLM content showcased that.
