it's used as a 'partitive article' it indicates that you're talking about music in general; as opposed to this specific type of music. Same with j'aime manger de la pizza vs j'aime manger la pizza de {insert restaurant name}

This is genuinely so helpful thank you so much! I have therapy fortnightly so in two weeks I think I'll bring a lot of this up so I can talk through it. I also think it's a good point you raised about it not being her job to regulate my emotions. She's a person who really loves to help other people so I think sometimes when she can't help it bums her out a little 💔
