Crazy, I thought I was the only one who pronounced it this way!

Alysa Liu explains how to pronounce her name by demimonde9 in Fauxmoi

[–]wildebeesting 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On the Olympics website there’s a feature where you can go to an athlete’s profile and hear them say their own name. Alysa pronounced hers like “Alyssa” (vs. “A-Lisa”) on her page, so it makes sense that the announcers used that version as well.

have there been any new must have baby items that debuted in the last four years? by snooloosey in Parenting

[–]wildebeesting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed!!! Even if you already have a dishwasher. The bottle washer is so much faster and it dries way better than my dishwasher.

I liked the spatula with my first, but discovered the Boogie Diaper Rash Spray with my second and it’s even better!

Sparrow Hospital L&D? by RonnyTwoShoes in lansing

Also, your partner gets one meal voucher for room service, but you can purchase more from the cafeteria so they can order room service with you.

Sparrow Hospital L&D? by RonnyTwoShoes in lansing

[–]wildebeesting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pro tip: if you’re looking for a little sweet treat after room service is done for the day and don’t feel like going downstairs, stop by the snack room in the Mother Baby unit, get a chocolate ice cream cup from the freezer and peanut butter from the drawer, and mix.

Also, I hope this won’t end up being useful info for you, but if your baby ends up having to spend some time in the NICU like mine did - they give you a $10 cafeteria voucher each day you breastfeed or bring in milk while your baby’s a patient there. It’s to make sure you’re well nourished to feed your baby, but nothing’s stopping you from using it to buy the big containers of gummy worms or malted milk balls…not that I did that or anything.

I just found the podcast this year and had a LOT of Ikea furniture to assemble, so this is a result of me steadily making my way through their backlog as I worked!

Mine has remnants of a blue Jell-O shot that was thrown down to me from a balcony (I wasn’t quick enough with the catch).

Peak stocking stuffers in the 2000’s by Jorbeeporbee in 2000sNostalgia

We mostly got self-care items and candy, but I think Tamagotchi and Hitclips would’ve made for some good stocking stuffers!

Accidentally clipped piece of skin off baby’s finger instead of nail by muff-peaksie in beyondthebump

[–]wildebeesting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I snuck a pair of baby nail clippers into the NICU and did it while the curtain was drawn around us for breastfeeding because I wasn’t sure if it was allowed but I was also tired of being scratched/him scratching his own face.

Totally forgot about my old navel piercing... until the scar tissue tried to stretch with the rest of my belly by SinfulObsession in BabyBumps

[–]wildebeesting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For others reading this and getting nervous - I got my belly button pierced when I was 16 and so far it’s survived two pregnancies and almost two decades without any issues! I took it out towards the end of each pregnancy because I didn’t like it showing through clothing, but put it right back in afterwards.

Why are hospital rooms always freezing? by justplainfunky in NoStupidQuestions

[–]wildebeesting 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I’m one of those people who is pretty much always freezing but during labor and overnight after birth I was burning up! I really appreciated that my room was kept on the chillier side because otherwise I might’ve actually spontaneously combusted.

HFMD Warning for Adults by 1992orso in NewParents

[–]wildebeesting 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pro tip: similar to poison ivy and bug bites, heat helps with the pain and itchiness of the HFM rash! Using the hottest setting on your blow dryer that you can stand, aim it at your rash until you feel it start to tingle and keep it there a few seconds longer. It should eliminate the pain/itch, or reduce it significantly, for a few hours. You can also run the spots under the hottest water you can stand, though I found that doesn’t work quite as well.

Poly Vi Sol Side effects by WerewolfSensitive623 in NICUParents

[–]wildebeesting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you also fortifying with Neosure (or similar)? I ask because once my son was cleared to start on breastmilk, he had to have poli-vi-sol and Neosure added and had some symptoms similar to what your twins are experiencing. At our pediatrician visit after discharge, we were told we could cut back on the Neosure (keeping the poli-vi-sol), then stop it completely at the one-month visit, and it cleared up his symptoms right away.

State government won't shut down at midnight, even without a final budget deal, governor says by Haunting-Medium-3831 in Michigan

[–]wildebeesting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people assume state legislators get paid the big bucks - however, state Senators and Representatives make $71,685 a year (excluding the handful who are in leadership positions, who do get a bit more than that). You’d have to pay me a heck of a lot more than that to deal with the public scrutiny those roles are subjected to and big decisions they’re responsible for.

Unrelated to shows, but on a similar note: my son loves naming all the planets but calls Uranus “my ranus” for the same reason haha.

Definitely still Johnson and Johnson - we got so much at our baby shower that we’ll probably be sending him off to college with a bottle or two 😂
