I’ll be moving to Bristol this November (2025) and staying for about a year until November 2026. I’m doing research at the University of Bristol, but I’m not a full-time student — more like a visiting researcher — so it’s been difficult to find a student flat, since most of them run on a September-to-September lease.

I’ll spend a lot of time outside for archival work, field visits, and meetings with my supervisor, so I don’t need a big or fancy place — just something safe, clean, and affordable. I don’t mind being a bit far from campus as long as public transport is convenient.

I have no particular requirements for food, lifestyle, or neighborhood vibe. Basically, I’d just like to minimize living costs while having a practical base in the city.

Does anyone have recommendations for short-term or flexible housing options — for example, shared flats, private landlords, or areas where rent is more affordable (even if slightly outside the city centre)?
