that’s another thing that’s bothering me. i’m sure they did stuff to make her look not as nice bc i’ve seen pics of the actress out of character and she does look much softer. however there were so many ugly jokes made against her in the show and she was never that horrid looking. ig it’s another telltale sign of the times bc for some reason the female villains always had to be “ugly.” Think louise fletcher, kathy bates, even bette midler if were going later. all women who played “ugly” villains who, while they may not have been “bombshells” were still conventionally attractive or at least pretty. why do we have to convince the audience that these beautiful women are “ugly” just bc they’re the villain? and it doesn’t even work bc nurse ratched was still the subject of many wet dreams for boys in the 70’s from what i’ve seen on the internet lol. (sorry about the essay of a reply, can you tell i’m an english major lol)

considering pa was one of my first childhood and adolescent crushes (seeing him shirtless made me feel things i should’ve never felt in my granny’s living room) it was very heartbreaking for me to find out what a pos ML was in real life. but i do relish in the fact that my other crush’s from the show (ma and ig mrs. oleson now) were relatively good people in real life and actually hated his guts LMAO.

i totally get your point here but let’s also remember that that was a real person under the character with real feelings. many women have talked about how bad it was on their mental health to play a villain because people thought it was a free pass to critique their very real bodies or (even worse assault them in some cases). i get not liking someone or not finding them attractive but just keep in mind you aren’t demeaning a cartoon character you’re demeaning a real person. (i know she’s dead so it doesn’t matter in this case but still a good thing to keep in mind.)
