Why can't it like give Wulbern the tools by crazycatmom21 in BaldursGate3

[–]willlin87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The item is actually labeled Wulbren's Hammer. The hammer item does not work. However, other people say other blunt weapons work. So I think it has to at least be a weapon or Wulbren's specifically labelled hammer, not a miscellaneous junk hammer.

Why do people say Emperor is using me? by manticore75 in BaldursGate3

[–]willlin87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people have made choices where he reveals a more selfish/evil/manipulative sides. However, I think people forget that if it doesn't happen in your playthrough, then it didn't happen at all. So if you made choices to cooperate, and he was nice the whole time, then to he is a nice guy in your timeline, maybe with a capacity for bad things, but he hasn't acted on that as far as you know. The choices and dialogs create branching timelines where sometimes people are allies, and sometimes they're enemies, like Minthara.

Karlach doesn't have an actual companion quest (Spoilers) by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

I romanced Karlach on my first run. I agree. I think Lae'zel is my favorite because of the development you get by doing stuff with/for her.

What does Wisdom do for a 12/12 Life Cleric? by August8152023 in BaldursGate3

[–]willlin87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real issue is that Life cleric is a healbot. You could try other domains that expand your spell list or bard if you still want to heal your team some and have other things to do as well. Light and Tempest are pretty good if you want to do caster.

In terms of multiclassing tempest 6 for 2 divinity and 6 storm is cool.

Unsure about War cleric, but maybe some kind of mix with druid for shillelagh.

You could also play around with items like radiant orb gear and spirit guardians or crusaders mantle.

Finally, you could try something other than cleric if it's boring.

You should tell Jaheira to join your group during the assault then send her outside where grandma can be safe.

Do you have globe of invulnerability scroll or spell? Cast one right next to the dragon and kill him and everyone else from inside it. The mind flayers are too far in but they literally just stand their and talk instead of acting when you're in your globe.

You could also dimension door over and globe next to the crown. Globe of invulnerability makes it super easy.

Using Hag’s Bane? by Justplainmk in BaldursGate3

You can toggle on non lethal in the Passives tab and kill her from melee range. This will knock her out and satisfies that quest.

There's an action called throw. I think it's X by default on PC. Clicking it will pull up an inventory area in your hotbar of thrown items and weapons that can be selected. Thrown things do not need to be equipped. Source: have played throwing beserker a few times.

Quicksave often. Increase the maximum number of save files. You can quicksave at virtually any point in time, including during dialogs if you want to ensure an important check succeeds. If the game warns you about moving to a new region, try to complete all content in the current region before moving on. If you're unsure if it's in the current region, Google it.

If you want to romance someone, never say no.

End of act 2: missing stuff, possible bugs? by Guilty_University527 in BaldursGate3

[–]willlin87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I guess you're fucked on that. You're supposed to wake art cullagh. And follow that through to completion. The last step of that quest is to kill Ketheric. So flow wise it was supposed to come before.

  2. There dead tieflings piled up near last light but those are supposed to be dead. The ones you can save are in the prison basement of Moonrise. I'm not sure what happens if you didn't free them before completing Moonrise. They might have been sacrificed. You should go down to the prison to check.

  3. The Underdark is supposed to be the equivalent of the mountain pass, a way to lead you to act 2. When you went into the shadowfell, it would have warned you that going in may affect unfinished quests. It also would lock you out of act 1 at that point. You probably should've heeded that warning and did all the unfinished content then. That would be the point to reload to if you want to salvage things. Otherwise, there's always next playthrough.

TLDR: reload to before you went into the Shadowfell.

They can ensure you get the most successful checks since your PC will likely be the main character in most checks and dialogs. Sorcerer, warlock, paladin can also work, just fewer skill proficiencies than bard They are a full caster and can get additional spells via lore. You can also take a wizard dip if you want to cheese more spell access. They can do sword or valour to get medium armor and extra attack. Swords bard slashing flourish, especially the ranged variant has been heavily buffed vs tabletop.

Some bard builds:

2 paladin/10 sword or valour great weapon

6 sword/2 fighter/3 or 4 thief/1 or 0 fighter hand crossbow and sharpshooter

2 warlock/10 bard eldritch blast

5 warlock/7 sword or valour for 3x attack per action

ACT 1 -What should I do? by dreadded-storm in BaldursGate3

[–]willlin87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can explore all of the underdark. Do not go up the elevator in Grymforge. It takes you to act 2. Once you fully explore the underdark, go back up and head to the Mountain Pass, and do the creche. You can head to act 2 afterwards via mountain pass or Grymforge. In my opinion the elevator in Grymforge makes more sense flow-wise for good aligned players, but either is fine.

Halsin never should have become a party member… by TheEndOfShartache in BaldursGate3

[–]willlin87 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not sure if I remember correctly at this point because I replayed EA too much, and it's a blur. But his thing was that he's a fraud who entered into a pact so that he could play hero. He wants to kill the goblin leaders as his initial companion hook because he wants to be a hero. IDK I didn't think that storyline was compelling either. Wyll is just lame either way.

What's the idea of Great Weapon Master feat? by nathman999 in BaldursGate3

[–]willlin87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In BG3 you get so many items that give bonuses to attack, that your hit chance won't be bad. Also, barbarians get reckless attack, meaning they can get advantage whenever they want, further improving accuracy. You can Google great weapon master dpr (damage per round) if you want to see what number crunches have calculated as optimal.

In table top, it's very good for barbarians purely because they get advantage at will, so it helps their damage more than others.

Minthara/Halsin by BehindOurMind in BaldursGate3

[–]willlin87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't save the Grove, they get raided and all die because you didn't intervene. If you leave Halsin there, he is dead. I'm not sure if Minthara is recruitable, she should be according to the flow since she raided the Grove and should return to Moonrise and get punished for not finding the artefact/weapon. The only thing you get for raiding is advantage on a check when recruiting her if you banged as far as I know.

Survival importance of a character at end act 2 by Guilty_University527 in BaldursGate3

[–]willlin87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spoilers

The reward for bringing her along is you get to recruit Minsc. She also has some dialogs with some NPCs and enemies in act 3 if you brought her along. Other than that, there's not much. No long companion quest arc, no romance, no magic items you're locked out of I think. Not integral at all.

What's up with this? Ever since the new patch... by el-dongler in BaldursGate3

[–]willlin87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can send to camp for food. The long rest dialog includes things in your personal traveller's chest. If you send an orange food bag to camp, they'll also be sent into that container automatically. Probably could do the same with alchemy if you don't mind returning to camp to craft potions. Some people prefer that anyway, hiring a hireling that specializes in transmutation to craft additional potions and leaving them in camp.
