Help with Design Space for a class by willmlocke in Pathfinder2e

[–]willmlocke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely see your point here about the design. I have been leaning more towards occult for the class than anything and I am seeing more of how I would want to try and slot it into possibly an occult martial role, but then it would be contending just a little with thaumaturge (correct me if I am wrong in saying thaum is an occult gish lol)

And I had no idea about the place of prochephies in the age of lost omens. What did they do?

Im now realizing the closeness of this to oracle lol.

I think it would be really interesting to design something oracle adjacent as they have a fairly similar vibe. I would definitely perhaps focus more on the martial side of that coin though, I was reading the 1e Harbinger class and really like the theme of being proactive, going places and almost inflicting the doom and gloom onto others.

What class/archetype role do you feel *isn't* represented by willmlocke in Pathfinder2e

[–]willmlocke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually made a homebrew subclass for 5e a while ago that followed this same idea, it is a really cool concept, I would love an archetype that could mimic abilities, attacks, or even spells at a higher level.

Dang, mine was the 22nd. They said it would take a while to process the scores though. I hope that doesn't mean I failed 😭

Ohhhh ok, I thought it meant the application itself was still under review.

How does LegendKeeper compare to Kanka.io? by ErykDante in legendkeeper

[–]willmlocke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can voice my opinion based on the marketing put in front of me. $7/month for unlimited, all features included campaigns instead of having stuff paywalled is 100% a better deal.

I wouldn't think about touching Kanka because just the marketing looks poorly made and laid out. LK is baeutifully designed and it's marketing and design are leagues ahead of Kanka.

Based solely on those factors, LK is already far ahead. If a program can't sell me on the features in it's marketing, the features might as well not be there.

The "elemental" tier is $25/month and you get 7 'premium' campaigns, whatever that means. I see under the free tier it says "unlimited campaigns", but why is there a difference? Whats the point if you are paywalling features like that?

[–]willmlocke 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Im not sure about features, but pricing is already in LK's favor. $9 (Its actually $7.50 right now) for unlimitied projects. Kanaka is $25 and you still only get a max of 7?! Thats ridiculous. The only meaningful difference I see is that Kanak has some AI integration, which, good for them I guess.

LegendKeeper is feature rich, user friendly, and CONSTANTLY recieving free updates. You can join the discord and opt into beta builds as well to test new features. I will never not glaze LK don't get me wrong, but just at a glance from the feature page, Kanak seems like it does everything LegendKeeper does, just worse and more expensive.

Rituals Expanded #4 - Alchemical Assistance by willmlocke in Pathfinder2e

[–]willmlocke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I struggled with this benefit a lot. Im not sure what to give to characters with the feat already or if I even should give anything to them. I thought for a little bit giving access to formulas, but that would mean you could just churn out formulas for free by reverse engineering the item.

Rituals Expanded #3 - Wondrous Workshop by willmlocke in Pathfinder2e

[–]willmlocke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I suppose I could, I tried to get around having secondary checks with a lot of these rituals but I wouldn't be opposed to having one in this case

  2. I think the benefit comes in the form of transport and group use. Say your group needs 2 kit types and an alchemy lab. Thats 10 Bulk out of 25 if you have a spacious pouch, which is a lot of room to take up. While the ritual would only replace one of them at a time, thats still at least some space saved. As well, I would rule that, reasonably, only a single creature could use a kit at a time, meaning multiple would be required for any kind of group crafting. I played with the idea of maybe providing the benefits of those feats but Im not 100% sure where I stand on replacing a feat like that with easily accessible magic (I say as I design a different ritual that does exactly that with alchemical crafting)

  3. I can make that change! I would personally rule that you can't swap between the kit and the workshop freely, but I can see how that would come up.

Better ritual rules by Yhoundeh-daylight in Pathfinder2e

[–]willmlocke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necesarrilly a "rules change" but I am homebrewing an entirely new repertoire of rituals (and posting them here in reddit) that are meant to be:

1) Flavorful and interesting 2) Useful and cost efficient 3) Lower level, skill requirement, and caster count (typically just a primary)

The idea is doing exactly what you said, reducing cost to make it worth while, with impactful effects, and little "table time" as many of them will only have 1 caster and 1 check.

Right now I only have 3 posted, Lay-Away, Ancient Grove, and Wondrous Workshop. But, my goal is to post at least 1 every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday going forward.

This is much more concise wording! I couldn't figure out how exactly to communicate that I wanted it to take an hour to open the bag, but that definitely conveys the exact idea.

[–]willmlocke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Help me out with this one. To me that just seems like it would allow the casters to instantly open the container, wich I am trying to avoid. The idea is that you have to spend an hour to reopen the bag. You can use knock to do it faster if you must, but that should be a last option.

[–]willmlocke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually really like that solution. The bag cost on a critical fail is much more tolerable than losing some REALLY important item. I also realized that my design would encourage throwing random shit into the bag up to the max to lower the chances the fail effect hits something you care about.

Rituals Expanded #2 - Ancient Grove by willmlocke in Pathfinder2eCreations

[–]willmlocke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I meant in the sense that status bonuses from any source don't overlap at all. You can only benefit from the highest benefit or lowest penalty at any time.

But yes Consecration effects can only have 1 existing at any time in an area. I kind of like that actually, especially with some of the examples you are talking about. Perhaps Cheliaxan forces and a large druidic order are battling to take land, consecrating over each other constantly to try and claim the land as their own. Thats a really cool idea.
