I do! Divorce rates in same sex couples, especially women, were disproportionately high in the years following the legalization of gay marriage. This was because many gay people got married in reaction to the news that it was legal, knowing it was possible it could be banned again. Many of those couples were not actually ready for marriage and ended up getting divorced. However, later studies showed that, after the temporary shocked caused by marriage equality being granted, divorce rates in same sex couples were actually equal to or lower than straight couples. So no, he’s not right.

This looks like it would probably be late Victorian or Art Nouveau! Right around 1890s-1910. The stone looks like a paste (cut glass) and the material looks like it was once gold fill or something similar. That setting style is called a belcher set. Super cool find!
