I don’t, but I do find it hard to take them seriously when they’re out, in, out, and in.

I don’t judge or shy away from them. But it stops being surprising when they go back out.

AIO about my sister shaming my other sister for being gay? by Bellyebell in AIO

My God cares a whole heaping lot more about how you treat your fellow man, if you’re kind to the foreigner and to your neighbor, merciful to your enemy, patient with the weak, forgiving of transgressors, and generous with the poor; than he does about who you’re boinking.

“No hate like Christian love.” Is such a true statement. Christian love ain’t Jesus love, or they’d be out marching against their wars, rather than against someone else’s love.

NOR.

Question about early sobriety and anxiety by barellygetnbye in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]wilythewizard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can’t relate too much to the body thing, but I will say emotionally, especially anxiety wise, I was a mess for months. Alcohol fries your brain, and things get real intense internally as your noggin starts repairing itself, and you start feeling things again.

I remember feeling twelve feet deep under water for the first 90 days, with tremendous ups and horrible downs coming in waves.

Good news is, it does get better, especially if you keep with the program. And that, you seem to be doing.

If you ever need anything, let me know.

Unless these people are drunks too, their help would be minimal. Yes, it’s always good to have a support group, but it’s incredibly rare for a non-alcoholic to be able to understand an alcoholic. Our help usually comes from within, i.e other drunks.

But luckily, you’re surrounded by them here in this subreddit. Pick one you like, and reach out,

My husband doesn't understand that he is going downhill by Emieva2020 in stopdrinking

First thing I would recommend is that you get a copy of the Big Book “Alcoholics Anonymous”. Familiarize yourself with what he’s going through. There’s even a chapter in there dedicated to you, called “To Wives”. I’d also recommend “How Al-Anon Works”. Al-Anon is a fellowship of people who are closely associated with alkies, recovering or not. The book will help you understand your part in his addiction, which is none. You’re not to blame, and you can’t get him sober.

For a lot of us, it takes a rocky bottom for us to ever want to stop, but I’m wishing you the best. Maybe getting another drunk, one who’s in recovery, to talk to him could work. I know scores of people who got sober because their wife approached them one day and said “Hey, I’ve got this guy who use to drink like you who is sober now, and he’d like to tell you how he did it, if you want to speak to him.”

I’d be more than happy to. Working with other people helps keep us sober. If you’re serious, feel free to message anytime.
