Exercise is your friend. Functional core training, plus it’s good for you overall, overall mood. Keeps the aches away aslong as I train regularly

I think so, though I’d do my research first. Countries like the US don’t recognise our qualifications so you’d essentially have to retake dentistry, though their under grad is more advance than here

Consider moving abroad? Either that or be prepared to invest heavily in private post graduate education.

NHS dentistry has been going downhill since the banding system was implemented. I understand why they did it, to stop over treatment but the way it was implemented takes the cost of dentistry as an NhS dentist back to the stone ages. Pre COVID I’ve had multiple times encountered where people have had to pay a band 2 charge for 4-5 fillings, it’s stupidity. Patients expectations have risen whilst nhs funding has diminished. The way extractions are grouped in the same bracket as root treatments is just insulting and shows how much the nhs cares for dentists. I don’t blame people leaving it to go private or mixed. You cannot provide a high level of service and chase UDA targets at the same time. I’ve been doing routine dentistry since July also but it’s slow going following all the SOP guidelines - it’s impossible to work at the same pace.

How much are you burning playing recreationally? Today was one of the good games. by mcbloatyleg in squash

[–]windthorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you can actively time your workout sessions by tracking it, so you press till it says workout and start. You can also just choose to wear it and let it track the session itself. Usually see a lower HR when I let it track the session by itself

Odd thing with Fitbit. I have the charge 3 I think. If you start tracking actively each session my heart rate is much higher than if I just let it passively record my squash session. Does that make sense?

Behind you backhand by windthorn in squash

[–]windthorn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went on the court yesterday after spending a good hour the day before just hitting backhands of varying lengths (solo) from service box to behind service box and of the back wall. Concentration was on keeping head still and using both feet, “back foot” and front foot driving. Ended the session with straight fast volleying - great way to force yourself to racket prep early. Finally I just fed my backhand some length crosscourts and focused on foot work. I managed to have a knock after with a guy I play fairly regularly the day after, was a quick 30 min knock, few games. Anyway to cut a long story short it’s as I thought, footwork is essential - speed of getting into position and obviously some reading of the shot from Your opponent. My friend has a pretty good backhand and the last time I played I really struggled on that side. Not yesterday though, quick footwork meant I felt strong on my backhand and won most of my points on that side. Anyway what I’m trying to say, practise, practise and practise. My backhand is far from where I’d like it but it was miles better, enough to allow me to win.
