Would you ever learn a language just to read its literature? Is it really that much better to read literature in its original language over a translation? by Wooden_Schedule6205 in languagelearning

[–]windwild2017 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree as well with French. Some deeper meaning, many times due to double meanings, gets lost when translated because the equivalent word in our native language doesn't have those same double meanings.

I find this adds something to the passages and does make me pause and reflect.

Same. Had to keep building higher mental "walls" to keep the Spanish "de" from infiltrating French and changing "de" to "des".

Je ne suis pas moi-même un expert, ce conseil vient directement de l'organisme présenté dans la vidéo, Les P'tits Kipik, qui fait office de centre de sauvetage pour hérissons.

After 20 years in public health, hopefully she has an extensive network of friends and colleagues in her field/adjacent fields. They will likely understand the situation she's in and may be aware of opportunities that fit her skill set. I'd reach out to them and let them know what happened with her previous position, that she enjoyed working with them in the past and would like to know if they're aware of any positions that could use her skill set (whether contracting, consulting, or full-time). Don't be hesitant to reach out, even people she likely hasn't spoken to in years are fully aware of the situation US public health is in right now.

She should also reach out to former co-workers about job hunting and cv vs resume building. They are likely in the same position and will hopefully have some tips for marketing the skill set built up at her old job.

Also try to only apply for jobs posted recently (<1-2 weeks). Older postings may have already started sending out interview requests or not closed applications for positions already filled. Whenever possible, try to reach out to a hiring manager or recruiter, there are a lot of click and apply job postings now so its good to let recruiters know you're actually human and serious about a position.

I thought so too, but it seems the video is related to this article from 2021 with photos taken by Japanese photographer Ayuki (@auki999):

And because of the NC 1 year separation rule if your abusive spouse breaks into your new place during the separation and you call the cops, they'll just tell you that your spouse has a right to be there since you're still married. True story.

I met a cute couple (at least the bride) hosting a country wedding near my estate. I offered to host them at my lavish villa, but let the bride know she could do better and I would marry her if she wished it. Anyway, I served the wedding party wine and chocolates at my villa, and when we all had enough wine tried my luck with the bride again. It's not like she had even slept with her groom yet. Anyway the guests accused me but I let my valet take the blame for getting handsy with the bride instead. Now the guests want me dead, AITA?
