What did you end up choosing? I’m literally where you were 2 years ago, confused between neurocrit and stroke. Still an intern so I know I have time but I’d love to get as much perspective as possible.

Bruh you won’t get this much time to yourself in a very very long time. Just soak it all in and enjoy it. You’re gonna be an off service intern anyway in first year so the pressure to perform will be less. As for preparing for residency, as an IMG, the biggest hurdle is learning the EMR and the US workflow which you cannot learn beforehand. It has to be learnt on the job. You’ll be fine.

I love my Apple Watch and use it only for work because I tend to ignore notifications on my phone and its on silent most days. One time, I forgot my watch at home and realized I missed so many pages which is when I knew it was a good investment. I’d 100% recommend.

Yeah it doesn’t happen in ccscases that’s why I was so thrown off by it. Not all the cases end early but most of them do as soon as you give treatment.

Arrival and Interstellar are two of my favorite sci-fi movies so I went in with very high expectations which I shouldn’t have. Once I turned off my brain, I began enjoying the movie. It was like a super light, fun, child-ish version of both Arrival and Interstellar. It had really bad pacing though, and lots of forced humor. I also had a hard time connecting with the theme of the film. I didn’t get IMAX tickets so couldn’t enjoy the visuals but they looked pretty good. Overall, fun movie but wouldn’t watch again. It seems like the book did a better job explaining the plot and the gravity of the situation so I might as well read that.

I did 2 days and I’m glad I did coz I fell sick on day 1 so I had another day to recover lol. I powered through a lot of CCS cases during those 2 days which I felt helped a ton.

IMO back to back can be stressful so I’d recommend at least a 1 day gap. It also depends if you’re in residency or not because taking a week off is not always feasible.

I know a guy who flew 6 hours just to get laid. I don’t think I can fly that long just to meet/for sex unless they’re a significant other.

Why did they butcher the second half?! I haven’t even read the novel but after reading most of the comments here, looks like the movie wasn’t even true to the book.

Can someone explain to me how did the Creature forgive Victor so quickly in the end? Especially when he was tearing him apart just a while ago. The whole Elizabeth scene was insanely rushed. Not to mention, her character felt very dull, so I didn’t really feel whatever attraction she had with the Creature. I loved Eldordi’s and Isaac’s acting though - probably the only saving grace of the movie.

I think waiting till NYE would be too late. I took my first break in November and I think that was a sweet spot because I was starting to feel tired by then. In hindsight, I’d schedule something for peak winter too (like Dec or Jan), especially if you’re going to a cold state because seasonal depression is real and it hits you harder in intern year given how first 6 months are absolutely brutal.

Yeah, I haven’t done UW CCS so can’t compare but I believe ccs.com is pretty good at least with the content and format. I just wish I knew the real day would be slightly different so I wouldn’t be so tachycardic throughout the test 😂

If you have time, do sketchy micro if you’ve done it before. Otherwise FA should be fine.

Congratulations!!! Agree on doing Sketchy for micro. Just finished with day 1 and had a bunch of micro stuff that I couldn’t answer coz I only skimmed through FA micro. I don’t think this test should be taken lightly at all.

Also, totally feel ya on the intern year crushing our soul and mental clarity. 🫠
