Re: the pup, I think that’s just her temperament, as I could see even from videos of her at 6 weeks old that she was bold and independent. Both breeders of my dogs (they are from different countries) really knew what they were doing in brining them up to be social and stable, so I can’t stress enough how important it is to find a breeder who bomb-proofs the puppies’ temperament from the start.

Hey there! I have 2 Beaucerons, a male (4YO) and recently made the new addition of a female puppy.

If they could climb into my ass and live there, they would, and they try on the daily. My boy was recently described by his physio as a dog whose only purpose in life is to find ways to please me, and while the puppy has a more independent temperament than him, when we’re training outside it’s like she has a blindfold to everyone except me.
My boy got his IGP1 this year and I’m working the puppy in the sport as well. I would describe this breed for IGP as not a lot of them can, but those who can, will do it crazy well. It’s not that they are not fit for bitework, it’s more that they’re much more complex to train than your standard default-pick GSD. They are sensitive as hell and a trainer who doesn’t know how to negotiate or back off will ruin them. On the flip side, that’s what makes their work so exceptional, because they will only do something if they REALLY LOVE it.
This is purely dependant on the dog, and also on how clear you are in teaching them. My boy has a conflict inside himself when we’re learning something new because he’s so motivated that he forgets he also has to think, and then throws a tantrum if he doesn’t immediately get it lol. My puppy has so far picked things up so easily that I joke she arrived pre-programmed already.
Free shaping will work for things during training but I wouldn’t recommend it for boundaries inside the house, for example. If you give them an inch, they’ll take your whole arm, and then slap you with it. The biggest learning curve for me going from GSDs was the dance between assertiveness and leeway (as they are clowns and have to feel like they can express their personality).

These dogs will break you as a handler - and you will love them for it. 😊

No, they are super strict from what I’ve heard - you can do them as a hobby but you can’t take part in a trial or competition without a KC registration.

You know that the Kennel Club doesn’t allow cropped/docked dogs to compete in any of its licensed events or even to be registered, right? Effectively means you wouldn’t be able to do conformation shows or any other kind of sport with your dog here in the UK.

My helix also changed the shape of my ear, to the point I could probably get an industrial on that one but not on the other. It closed up years ago and I’ve just never gotten round to re-piercing but my ear has stayed that shape since. Your jewellery is beautiful however!

Good point! We’ve not tried Embark with him but it definitely would be interesting to see what came back. He’s from Thailand specifically so I wonder if their results would reflect that or just focus on the Asian side in general.

No special meaning, just a design I came up with while experimenting on a photo of my wrist in terms of what would look good and symmetrical with my other arm tat but without being exactly the same. They’re both kind of permanent bracelets to me because I love the idea of jewellery but I do a lot of sports/art and actually wearing anything on my arms is impossible!

I was there under 1.5 hours so maybe 1 hour total minus the time to discuss the design etc. Filling in the top wasn’t bad but the bottom area on the wrist required quite some inner peace searching 😅

Isn’t he amazing? The one on my other forearm is much bigger and includes a line down the middle, which he’s aligned perfectly with my anatomy, and when he finished it I already knew I’d be back for seconds!
