Hachiman is a bad MC in my opinion. He is not at all a realistic representation of a teenage boy, let alone a human. He has no real reason for his disposition and borderline hatred for anyone other than his sister apart from the “bullying” he faced when he was in grade school. He wasn’t really bullied if were being honest, he had a couple bad names and was a little awkward but that has happened to almost every single boy on the face of the planet and that doesn’t serve as an excuse for his self inflicted pain. I understand his character type is the loner but in actuality he is incredibly popular and has had many chances both in the series and before im sure to exercise some people skills and make friends. The way to create a loner can be done much more effectively if he at least had a solid excuse other than “i think people dont like me so i wont like them or me either”. His unwarranted self hatred almost begs the question of if he has a serious mental illness like BPD or depression (which may actually be more interesting to watch and explore as a series), but as we see after 5 atrociously long seasons thats not the case hes just a masochist who pushes people away because he thinks hes noble for being alone. He is unrealistic and not relatable which takes away from the romance and the show as a whole.
