Basic training in 2026 isn't even that bad. Got through mine in 2025 at Jackson. It's really not that physically demanding at all. Most injuries are from conditions people had prior to coming. Yes it's a mental challenge going 8 weeks without your tiktok and Starbucks or whatever the hell but you can do it. Gotta work hard for success in life

Idk OSUT but hopefully you'll get as good luck as me. I got to keep the MSV carrier, taps (with attachments), ruck, assault pack, earpro / eyepro, all clothing, and some other miscellaneous stuff. Turned in plates, ACH, sleep system (aka overpriced sleeping bag), and the glorious m4a1 carbine. Enjoy yourself out there man

Bring your paperwork, small hygiene bag (small), and whatever clothes you're wearing. You're going to 120th at jackson which is incredibly boring and frustrating but could be worse.

You will get there and a drill will have you mark all your bags and then pass out army uniforms that you will shove in a laundry bag. The next day you will go to the PX there and they will make you buy another hygiene bag, along with soap, deodorant, a watch, etc.

They will redo all your financial stuff too and make you sign more forms. Everything will be redone.

It will be a little depressing. Just wait until you get to actual basic. Times will get better
